The application relates to certain embodiments of an improved insulating support assembly for a circuit breaker. One embodiment comprises a strut and two metallic shields. The strut comprises an elongated main body and two metallic inserts. The main body is continuously curved from one end to the other end of the main body, each end of the main body being configured to face a radial direction of its component, the main body being configured to be in a same plane as a plane containing both radial directions of the components; each metallic shield is configured to be assembled to its respective end of the main body through its respective metallic insert and affixed to an outer surface of its respective component with fixing elements, each metallic shield having a C-shaped profile shaped to accommodate the outer surface of its respective component.

Insulating support assembly for a circuit breaker

A contact arrangement for a Pre-Insertion Resistor (PIR) wherein a control rod is arranged to move a movable contact, against the force of a biasing member, into temporary connection with a PIR. The control rod comprises a tulip with a plurality of resilient fingers and having a first diameter where it is able to mechanically couple to a latching ring on the movable contact, and a second diameter where the tulip is deformed with the fingers deflected inwards, once the resistance to movement exceeds a predetermined value, wherein the latching ring is able to pass over the tulip to decouple the movable contact from the control rod. The contact arrangement is particularly suited for a PIR arranged for connection in parallel to the interrupter of a gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) circuit breaker.

Embodiments of the disclosure can include systems and methods for limiting transient over-voltages occurring across a circuit breaker. These embodiments include providing a middle tank portion. They further include providing a first portion coupled to a first side of the middle tank portion, and a second portion coupled to a second side of the middle tank portion. They further include providing a first high voltage terminal coupled to the first portion, and a second high voltage terminal coupled to the second portion. They further include providing a post insulator supported and extending from the middle tank portion. They further include providing a first surge arrester connecting the first high voltage terminal to a first connector extending from the post insulator, and a second surge arrester connecting the second high voltage terminal to a second connector extending from the post insulator.

A gas exhaust diffuser for a circuit breaker, comprising a first casing extending longitudinally along a principal axis with an open end to allow gas to enter and a closed end, and a second casing coaxial to the first casing, extending along the principal axis, with at least one outlet to allow gas to escape, the closed end of the first casing being arranged in the second casing and the first casing having at least two radial openings near its closed end to provide a fluid communication between the first and second casing. A plurality of incurved elements are positioned radially in the second casing at the at least one radial opening to create a rotation of an entering exhaust flow in a plan perpendicular to the principal axis, thereby generating a substantially helicoidally-shaped exhaust flow path in the second casing.
