Apparatus for preparing food, for instance baby food, the apparatus () comprising a receptacle () for receiving food to be prepared, a blending assembly comprising a blender element () for blending the food and heating means arranged for heating the food, wherein a first end () of the receptacle () is adapted to cooperate with the heating means to heat the food and wherein the blender element () is provided at an opposite second end () of the receptacle (), such that in use an orientation of the receptacle () relative to the apparatus () is adaptable for switching between a heating operation and a blending operation.
