In one aspect, a method includes providing a post generated by a first user for display to one or more other users of the site, receiving an indication of a request from a second user of one or more other users to suggest auxiliary content relating to at least one of one or more items represented in the post, providing a suggestion mechanism to the second user on the page displaying the post to allow the second user to provide auxiliary content relating to the at least one of the one or more items, receiving a suggestion from the second user including the auxiliary content, providing the auxiliary content for display to the first user and providing the first user with a mechanism for viewing the auxiliary content.

Auxiliary content suggestions relating to user generated content

A system and method for crowdsourcing user-provided brand identifiers and distributing content based on crowd-sourced identifiers is provided. Different user-provided brand identifiers are extracted from messages provided by users of a social network. The identifiers are aggregated into two or more aggregate identity groups. When a brand identifier associated with a user request for content is determined to be in at least one of the aggregate identity groups, content items comprising one or more other brand identifiers of the at least one aggregate identity group are provided to the user.

Crowdsourcing user-provided identifiers and associating them with brand identities

One or more requests are received from a first system. The requests are queued in a queue. A serialization group is determined for a request and the request is associated with the determined serialization group. At least a subset of the requests from the queue is transmitted to a second system if the second system is available, including transmitting requests in a respective serialization group to the second system serially in accordance with an ordering of the requests within the respective serialization group.

Proxy for tolerating faults in high-security systems

An analysis tool analyzes a software system by simulating runtime binding in order to identify function-level code dependencies. The tool receives a list of one or more entry point functions and identifies other functions that can be invoked if the entry point functions are executed. The tool generates a tracker graph having tracker nodes representing classes that can be instantiated from the entry points. Each tracker node identifies functions/methods in that class that can be invoked from the entry points. If the software system uses an object-relational mapping to a database, the tracker graph also identifies the portions of the database that can be accessed from the entry points. The tool can be used to partition the functionalities of the software system into core and non-core functionalities in order to support upgrading while maintaining high-availability.

Identifying function-level code dependency by simulating runtime binding

Methods, systems and apparatus, including computer program products, for propagating data across shards of a database system are described. According to one method, a first request that includes instructions to place a second request in a queue of a second shard is placed in a queue of a first database shard, and the change is committed to the records of the first shard. A queue processor polling the queue fetches and dispatches the first request, placing the second request in a queue of a second database shard. The second request includes instructions for making the change to the second shard. A queue processor of the second database shard polls the queue of the second database, fetches the second request, and dispatches it to make the change on the second database shard.
