The invention relates to a method of detecting the presence ofin a sample using novel oligonucleotide sequences. Also presented is a kit for putting the method into practice and novel nucleic acid sequences for ompF. The ompF gene was found to be 100% inclusive forspecies and 100% exclusive for non-species for the strains tested thus making it an excellent marker for identification of both the species ofand. Two hundred and eighteen isolates belonging to(subspecies I-VI) andwere examined using novel primers designed to detect the ompF gene. The target was present in all the 218isolates including all the subspecies ofand. The ompF gene was absent in 180 non-strains tested.

The present invention concerns compositions and methods of extracting infectious pathogens from a volume of blood. In one embodiment, the method includes the steps of creating a fibrin aggregate confining the pathogens and introducing a fibrin lysis reagent to expose the pathogens for analysis. The present invention also concerns materials and methods for removing aurintricarboxylic acid (ATA) from a sample.

The present invention is a method of extracting infectious pathogens from a volume of blood including the steps of creating a fibrin aggregate confining the pathogens and introducing a fibrin lysis reagent to expose the pathogens for analysis. The fibrin lysis reagent is preferably composed of plasminogen and streptokinase frozen in coincident relation until the fibrin lysis reagent is needed whereby streptokinase enzymatically reacts with plasminogen to form plasmin upon thawing. The plasminogen is suspended in an aqueous salt solution prior to freezing including NaCl and NaPO.

Early detection of pathogens in blood

Biosynthesis of a desired macromolecule includes inserting a promoter that encodes for an endogenously produced inducible macromolecule in a Chlorella cell into a DNA vector to form a first recombinant DNA vector. A cDNA sequence that encodes for the desired macromolecule is inserted into the first recombinant DNA vector to form a second recombinant DNA vector, which is then incorporated into the microalgae cell genome to form a transformed microalgae cell. Transcription and translation of the cDNA sequence are induced in the transformed microalgae cell to biosynthesize the desired macromolecule. Control of the method is achieved with the use of a mechanism effective in repressing an expression of the endogenously produced inducible macromolecule. Then, when desired, expression of the cDNA sequence may be induced by removing the repressing agent, thereby inducing a biosynthesis of the desired macromolecule.
