An emissions measurement system capable of providing an accurate, real-time measurement of an emissions sample is disclosed. The exhaust may be generated by an internal combustion engine, in which case the system may be sequentially connected to the exhaust from the internal combustion engine. The emissions measurement system can include a laser light opacity sensor, a light scattering sensor, and a particle ionization sensor.

Device and method for measuring emissions with a linear arrangement of sensors

An apparatus and method for generating a controlled, predictable, reproducible and variable-size distribution of particulate matter (PM), particle number (PN) and/or facsimile/simulation, derived from vaporizing and condensing a specialized liquid, utilizing a vapor delivery device; a filter capability so as to remove a significant amount of ambient PM/PN as a secondary calibration process for the identification of fine and ultra-fine particles (e.g., 0.3 micrometers and smaller) as well as a computer-controlled ability to perform a pre-determined series of calibration routines, housed in a container.

Particulate calibration and generation simulator for particle measurement and number

An emissions measurement system capable of providing an accurate, real-time estimate of particle number (PN)/particulate matter (PM) within exhaust is disclosed. The system is capable of accurately differentiating the size and composition of PM/PN by synchronizing dissimilarly configured sensors. The exhaust may be generated by an internal combustion engine, in which case the system may be sequentially connected to the exhaust from the internal combustion engine.

Particulate matter/number synchronization measurement device

In a flue gas scrubber for removing sulfur dioxide from flue gas and having a spray dryer vessel inlet duct defined by a duct wall, the apparatus may be used to measure in situ the wet bulb temperature of the flue gas in the dryer vessel inlet duct. A water nozzle and a temperature sensor are both located in the dryer vessel inlet duct. The nozzle sprays water on the sensor and the wet bulb temperature of the flue gas is continuously measured. The apparatus gathers wet bulb temperature data which may be used for process control or for determining whether a leak has occurred within the tubes of a coal-fired steam boiler.

Apparatus and method for continuous measurement of the wet bulb

A process for the removal of acidic gases from carrier gases employing a finely divided alkaline sorbent material is disclosed. The process includes, optionally, the step of conditioning the carrier gas to lower its temperature. The process comprises introducing a stream containing the alkaline sorbent material and mixing the alkaline sorbent material and the carrier gas, introducing a stream of vapor and liquid droplets and mixing the stream of vapor and liquid droplets with the stream of carrier gas containing the alkaline sorbent material. Thereafter a portion of the vapor is condensed and the alkaline sorbent material reacted with the acid gases to form products of reaction. Finally, the products of reaction and the remaining alkaline sorbent material are separated from the carrier gas stream. Preferably, the alkaline sorbent material is calcium based, e.g., calcium hydroxide or calcium carbonate and the vapor and liquid droplets comprise low pressure steam and water, respectively. The mixing process is facilitated by a free jet nozzle operated with a low pressure drop across the nozzle. The separation step may be formed in a fabric filter (baghouse) or an electrostatic precipitator.
