A port configuration replication system includes a first networking device including a first port, and a second networking device including a second port. A management device communicates with the first networking device to provide a first networking device Graphical User Interface (GUI) that displays port configuration details for the first port. The management device then copies the port configuration details, and analyzes the port configuration details to identify port configuration replication information. The management device then communicates with the second networking device to display a second networking device GUI that provides for the configuration of the second port, and provides the port configuration replication information in the second networking device GUI in order to provide for the configuration of the second port.

Configuration replication system

A multi-port configuration system includes a network switch including a plurality of ports and a user device that is configured to couple to the network switch. Each of the plurality of ports is configured to operate in at least one of a plurality of modes. A congruent graphical representation of the network switch is displayed on the user device, and a selection of a group of ports of the plurality of ports is received. Based on the received selection of the group of ports, available configuration settings for the group of ports are displayed on the user device. A configuration settings selection, selected from the available configuration settings, for configuring the group of ports is received. The configuration settings selection is provided to the network switch to configure the group of ports.

Multi-port selection and configuration

A Wireless Wide Area Network (WWAN)-enabled remote switch management system includes a management device having a management device WWAN communication subsystem that is configured to transmit management commands from the management device through a WWAN. The WWAN-enabled remote switch management system also includes a switch device having a chassis. A switch device wired communication subsystem is located in the chassis, coupled to a Local Area Network (LAN), and is not coupled to the Internet. A switch device WWAN communication subsystem is located in the chassis and is configured to receive management commands from the management device through the WWAN. A switch management engine is located in the chassis, coupled to the switch device WWAN communication subsystem, and is configured to receive the management commands from the switch device WWAN communication subsystem, and execute the management commands to perform a management action on the switch device.

WWAN-enabled remote switch management system

A networked system includes a network. A secondary device is coupled to the network. A primary device is coupled to the network and includes a key device connector. The primary device may detect that a key device that includes a plurality of configuration information is coupled to the key device connector. The primary device then retrieves first configuration information of the plurality of configuration information from the key device for the primary device and configures the primary device using the first configuration information. The primary device then discovers the secondary device through the network, retrieves second configuration information of the plurality of configuration information from the key device for the secondary device, and provides the second configuration information over the network to the secondary device to initiate configuration of the secondary device using the second configuration information.

Network configuration system

A networking device includes a chassis, a port located on the chassis, a port configuration display located on the chassis, and a plurality of port configuration buttons located on the chassis. A port configuration engine is included in the chassis and is coupled to each of the port, the port configuration display, and the plurality of port configuration buttons. The port configuration engine is configured to provide a current Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) assignment for the port for display on the port configuration display. When the port configuration engine determines that a first port configuration button of the plurality of port configuration buttons has been actuated at least once, the port configuration engine modifies the current VLAN assignment for the port to provide a modified VLAN assignment for the port, and provides the modified VLAN assignment for the port for display on the port configuration display.

Networking device configuration system

A power distribution system includes a chassis with a plurality of ports that include a first port configured to communicate with powering devices and a second port configured to communicate with powered devices. A power distribution engine in the chassis is coupled to each of the plurality of ports. The power distribution engine determines that power available to the power distribution engine is insufficient to power a first powered device that is coupled to the first port, requests power from a first powering device that is coupled to the second port, and provides power that is received through the second port from the first powering device to the first powered device through the first port. In an embodiment, the first powered device and the second powered device are switch IHSs, the first port is configured as a trunk port, and the second port is configured as an access port.

Power distribution between multiple powering devices and powered device(s)

An electrical/optical signal conversion system includes a PoE powering device with powering device electrical data ports, and a PoE powered device (PD) with a power controller coupled to PoE-powered signal conversion subsystems that each include an electrical/optical signal converter coupled to a PD electrical data port and a PD optical data port. The PD electrical data ports receive power and electrical data signals transmitted by a powering device electrical data port, transmit the electrical data signals to their electrical/optical signal converter, and provide the power to the power controller. The corresponding PD optical data port then receives power from the power controller that was provided by the PD electrical data port, receives optical data signals from the electrical/optical signal converter that were converted from the electrical data signals transmitted by the PD electrical data port, and transmits the optical data signals to a first optical signal device.

PoE electrical/optical data signal converter system

A networking device testing system includes a testing device that is connected to a load generator device and a networking device. The testing device includes a testing device chassis. First testing device connectors are included on the testing device chassis and are each connected to a respective networking device connectors on the networking device. Pairs of the first testing device connectors are coupled together such that traffic received through one of the first testing device connectors in each pair is directed to the other of the first testing device connectors in each pair. Second testing device connectors are included on the testing device chassis. At least one of the second testing device connectors is connected to the load generator device. Each of the second testing device connectors is coupled to a respective one of the first testing device connectors.

Networking device testing system

A switch failure recovery system includes a network and a backup device that is coupled to the network. A first switch that includes a first switch memory system is also coupled to the network. The first switch stores a first switch configuration in the first switch memory system. The first switch then detects a failure issue associated with an imminent failure of the first switch and, in response, retrieves the first switch configuration from the first switch memory system, The first switch then sends the first switch configuration over the network to the backup device prior to an inability to communicate over the network due to the failure issue. The backup device may then provide the first switch configuration for application to the first switch (upon recovery) or a second switch that is coupled to the network.

Switch failure recovery system

A lockout prevention system includes a management Information Handling System (IHS) that is coupled through a network to network interface on a networking device. The networking device receives a configuration instruction through the network interface from the management IHS. The networking device then determines that the application of the configuration instruction will inhibit the communication between the management IHS and the networking device through the network interface. The networking device then provide a warning message for display on the management IHS in response to determining that the application of the configuration instruction will inhibit the communication between the management IHS and the networking device through the network interface.

Lockout prevention system

Aspects of the present invention include systems and methods include unique solutions for providing secure, selectable access to one or more functional elements of a device. In embodiments, a tab-lock system with moveable tab-locks can be positioned to block or allow access to functional elements of a device. In embodiments, the tab-lock system is configured so that when a locking device, such as a common Kensington lock, is locked to the device, the tab-locks settings cannot be changed. Such systems may be used to control the ability of individuals to physically access the interfaces of the device. Thus, such systems help secure an electronic device against inadvertent or malicious actions.
