A wireless device has a plurality of radio systems. The current priority of each of the radio systems is determined. An upper bound for the transmit power of each of the radio systems is set in dependence on at least the current priorities of the radio systems and a current maximum permitted transmit power of the wireless device. The upper bounds for the transmit power of each of the radio systems are variable over time and are set such that the sum of the upper bounds does not exceed the current maximum permitted transmit power of the wireless device. For each of the radio systems, the transmit power of that radio system is limited such that the respective upper bound for the transmit power for that radio system is not exceeded.

Method, apparatus and computer program for limiting the total transmit power of a wireless device

A wireless device has a first SIM and a second SIM. The first SIM and the second SIM share a common radio system. A processing system determines whether to allocate use of the radio system to the second SIM for a time period that occurs when the first SIM is in an active connected mode using the common radio system in order to be able to at least one of transmit data and receive data. The processing system allocates or denies use of the radio system to the second SIM accordingly.

Wireless device, method of operating and processing system

A wireless device has at least a first radio system for a first SIM channel and a second radio system for a second SIM channel. A processing system is arranged to determine whether a first of the first and second radio systems is capable of providing service for both of the first and second SIM channels currently being serviced by the first and second radio systems respectively. Servicing of the second SIM channel is transferred from the second radio system to the first radio system if it is determined that the first radio system is capable of providing service for both of first and second SIM channels. At least a part of the second radio system is shut down to reduce the power consumed by the second radio system after servicing of the second SIM channel has been transferred.

Method and wireless device for reducing power consumption by transferring servicing of a SIM channel to a first radio system and at least partially shutting down a second radio system of the wireless device

A wireless device has two or more radio systems and SIM channels. At least a part of the first radio system can be shut down to reduce the power consumed by the device. This occurs if the first radio system is unable to obtain suitable service for the first SIM channel and the second radio system is at least one of: (i) providing at least some service on the second SIM channel for the device, and (ii) capable of searching for service for the first radio system.

Wireless device, method of operation and computer program

A modem is provided for a wireless device that is capable of providing service for at least two SIMs. The modem has at least a first set of modem components and a second set of modem components. The modem selectively reconfigures the arrangement of the plural sets of modem components. In a first configuration, the first set of modem components provides wireless connection service for a first SIM of the wireless device and the second set of modem components provides wireless connection service for a second SIM of the wireless device. This allows active wireless connections to be made on behalf of both SIMs simultaneously by the sets of modem components. In a second configuration, the first set of modem components and the second set of modem components provide wireless connection service for the first SIM.

A processing system of the wireless device selectively reconfigures the connection of the first modem and the second modem to the SIMs. In a first mapping configuration, the first SIM is connected to the first modem and the second SIM is connected to the second modem. In a second mapping configuration, the second SIM is disconnected from the second modem, and the first SIM is disconnected from the first modem and is connected to the second modem thereby to obtain a different level of service for the first SIM than in the first mapping configuration.
