Systems, devices, and methods for treating a diseased native valve in a patient, the system comprising a compressible and expandable frame structure and an anchor. The anchor comprises a wire having a free end and is configured to be fully advanced from an atrial side of a native valve in a patient into a ventricle of the heart and anchor the frame structure to the native valve when the frame structure is in the expanded configuration adjacent the native valve.

Prosthetic cardiac valve devices, systems, and methods

Medical devices that can be delivered in a first, flexible configuration and subsequently locked into a second, rigid configuration are provided. The device comprises an elongate body having a plurality of slots openings along a bending portion of the body. Using a tension member to shorten the distance between two points along the elongate body causes the device to curve. The device can be locked into the curved configuration.

Adjustable medical device

Adjustable flow glaucoma shunts are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, for example, a variable flow shunt for treatment of glaucoma in a human patient includes an elongated outflow tube having (a) a proximal inflow portion configured for placement within an anterior chamber in a region outside of an optical field of view of an eye of the patient, and (b) a distal outflow portion at a different location of the eye. The variable flow shunt further includes a flow control mechanism positioned along the outflow tube between the inflow portion and the outflow portion. The flow control mechanism comprises one or more control elements transformable between an open position that allows fluid to flow through the outflow tube and resistance positions that partially obstruct or attenuate fluid flow through the outflow tube. During operation, the control element(s) are movable between positions in response to non-invasive energy.

Adjustable flow glaucoma shunts and methods for making and using same

A heart valve prosthesis for replacing a diseased native valve in a patient. The valve prosthesis includes a compressible and expandable frame structure and an anchor connected to an outer periphery of the frame structure. The anchor comprises a helical wire having a free end. The valve may further include a valve segment mounted within the frame structure and expanded with the frame structure. The frame structure may be configured for receiving a valve segment.

Systems and devices for facilitating the flow of fluid between a first body region and a second body region are disclosed herein. The devices generally include a drainage and/or shunting element having a lumen extending therethrough for draining or otherwise shunting fluid between the first and second body regions. Further, devices configured in accordance with the present technology may be selectively adjustable to control the amount of fluid flowing between the first and second body regions. In some embodiments, for example, the devices comprise an actuation assembly that drives movement of a flow control element to modulate flow resistance through the lumen, thereby increasing or decreasing the relative drainage rate of fluid between the first body region and the second body region.

Adjustable flow glaucoma shunts are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, for example, an adjustable flow shunt can include an outflow drainage tube having a proximal inflow region and a distal outflow region. The proximal inflow region can include aperture(s) defining a fluid inlet area positioned to allow fluid to flow therethrough. The shunt further comprises an inflow control assembly at the proximal inflow region. The inflow control assembly can include a control element configured to slidably engage the proximal inflow region and a spring element. The spring element is configured to be activated by non-invasive energy and, upon activation, slidably move the control element along the proximal inflow region such that (a) the one or more apertures are accessible and have a first fluid flow cross-section or (b) the one or more apertures are at least partially covered by the control element and have a second, different fluid-flow cross-section.

A delivery system for delivering a spiral anchor to a diseased native valve of a heart includes an anchor control catheter and an anchor guide extending from the anchor control catheter. The anchor guide includes a flexible configuration and a rigid configuration. The anchor guide in the rigid configuration includes a proximal section, a middle section, and a distal section. The proximal section includes a straight central axis and extends from the anchor control catheter, the middle section spirals axially and radially outwards from the central axis, and the distal section curves concentrically about the central axis in a plane that is perpendicular to the central axis.

Prosthetic valve delivery system

A delivery device for cardiac valve repair implants includes a delivery catheter and an extension member protruding from a distal end of the delivery catheter. The delivery device further includes a control arm assembly having pairs of control arms. Each pair includes a proximal control arm drivable from a handle assembly of the delivery device and a distal arm coupled to a distal end of the proximal control arm and a distal end of the extension member. Proximally driving each of the proximal control arms of the control arm assembly results in expansion of the control arm assembly and corresponding expansion of a cardiac valve repair implant coupled to the control arm assembly.

System and method for cardiac valve repair

A heart valve prosthesis for replacing a diseased native valve in a patient, the valve includes a compressible and expandable frame structure and an anchor connected to an outer periphery of the frame structure. The anchor comprises a free end and has a flat spiral shape. The valve may further include a valve segment mounted within the frame structure and expanded with the frame structure. The frame structure may be configured for receiving a valve segment.

A system for treating a diseased native valve in a patient includes a valve prosthesis and a delivery device. The prosthesis includes an anchor and a frame. The delivery device includes an outer sheath, an inner shaft, an anchor guide, and a tether. The anchor is shaped to encircle chordae or leaflets of a native valve. The frame is configured to sit within the anchor. The inner shaft is positioned within the outer sheath and translatable and rotatable relative to the outer sheath. The anchor guide is attached to a distal end of the inner shaft and has a curved distal section. The tether is configured to detachably couple to the anchor and to longitudinally translate the anchor within the inner shaft and anchor guide. The anchor is configured to be actuated from a delivery configuration to the deployed configuration when the anchor is translated out of the anchor guide.
