This invention relates to a heavy wall monolithic iron pipe comprising nodular graphite in the outer portion of its wall and flake or quasi-flake graphite in the inner portion of its wall and a method for making said pipe. The central portion of the wall of the pipe may be a combination of nodular graphite and flake or quasi-flake graphite.

Method of making dual graphite structured pipe

A bell and plain end pipe joint are provided wherein the plain end has a raised portion on its outside diameter. A series of locking segments fit into a circumferential groove in the bell of one pipe and engage both the raised portion on the plain pipe and a portion of the bell. Upon an increase in fluid pressure in the pipes, the pipes tend to separate axially and the locking segments also contact and bear against a different portion of the bell. The joint provides a novel means of distributing the axial thrust tending to separate the pipe being joined.

Restrained pipe joint

A method for coating a metal surface by depositing a mixture comprising a polyolefin and an ionomer on the metal surface, which is at a temperature sufficient to fuse the mixture to the metal surface, and thereafter cooling the resulting coated surface; and the coated article produced by the method. The method is especially useful in coating a ferrous metal surface, such as, for example, the interior surface of a pipe.
