Personal diagnostic devices including diagnostic patches (bio-patches) and interactive medical bracelets (bio-bracelets) are provided with a skin/patch interface, at least one analysis layer, a signal processing layer, and a user output interface. Embodiments of the interactive diagnostic devices may include micro-fluidic circuits with reaction chambers, analysis chambers, mixing cambers, and various pre-disposed chemistries or reagents for performing a wide verity of tests by transdermal transport of blood or perspiration. Sample collection chambers for the fluidic circuit may include minimally invasive tubules that penetrate the skin surface to acquire blood samples from capillaries near the epidermis. Alternate implementations of the personal diagnostic device may be equipped with logic processing, input/output devices, acoustic microphones, cryogenic circuits, embedded processors, electrical control circuitry, and battery current sources or photovoltaic sources of electrical power.

A current glucose level and a rate of change of the current glucose level may be determined based on the received glucose data. A first interface may be displayed on a screen of a device. A personal diagnostic patch device for biological analysis includes a sample acquisition layer for obtaining a fluid sample, a fluidic processing layer including a fluidic circuit for directing fluid flow, an assay results detection layer having a detector for detecting diagnostic results derived from fluid sample analysis, and a processor and transmitter for sending diagnostic results to a remote location. The layers are situated in register with each other and operatively attached with constituent elements in alignment to form the fluidic circuit for sample processing, detection, and analysis. Related systems include a remotely located user computer for receiving a signal from the patch device when the device is provided with the transmitter. The user computer may be connected to a network including any one or more of several different medical providers. Methods include use of the patch device for specific applications, related processes, and steps for manufacturing and assembling.

A relative positioning system and method has an adjoining pair of spaced apart receivers positioned proximal to an object causing a signal interference with a radio frequency signal detectable by each receiver of the adjoining pair. The radio frequency signal is associated with an emitter. Control electronics operatively couple the spaced apart receivers. The control electronics are configured to determine a direction of the emitter based on the signal interference. In an embodiment of the system and method the emitter is associated with an object of interest, the signal encodes information relating to the identity and status of the object, and information and heading of the object are cutaneously communicated to an operator by an article worn by the operator.
