A production messaging node in a messaging environment registers a subscription to itself (registers a self-subscription) with a central repository. The self-subscription enables the production messaging node to detect and identify a clone of itself in the messaging environment. The self-subscription ensures that a configuration change applied to the clone triggers a notification that is sent to the production messaging node. The notification enables the production messaging node to determine that the clone is active in the messaging environment. The production messaging node may then respond in various ways depending on the prevailing circumstances. Self-subscribing a messaging node to a central repository enables detection and identification of a cloned messaging node which if left un-marshalled, may disrupt the functioning of the messaging configuration.

Detecting cloned members of an enterprise messaging environment

Automated devices send messages of a first batch sequence individually to a target queue of a receiving node of a cluster of server nodes, the messages having a different sequence number indicative of their relative positions within the batch sequence, and each is associated with a first logic unit of work identifier. In response to determining that a message counter meets a threshold, a force commit packet is generated to include the sequence number of the last batch message sent to the target queue. If the force commit packet sequence number is not the last position number within the batch sequence, a second logic unit of work identifier is associated with a subset sequence of the batch of messages having sequence numbers spanning from the first number to the force commit packet sequence number, and the subset sequence messages are committed to the receiving node target queue.

Generating exception delay messages when messages communicated between asynchronous messaging applications are delayed and for forcibly retaining the original message. Specifically, the invention provides methods and systems for generating an exception delay message after a time threshold has expired without deleting the original message. The exception delay message may be sent once when the time threshold first expires or each time that the time threshold expires.
