A control device for a medical system is provided. The medical system may be a medical diagnosis and/or medical therapy system. The medical system may include a control unit operable to be used to carry out control processes that control the medical system, and a mobile handheld control unit operable to control at least one controllable element of the medical system by a user. The control device may be configured so that one or more control processes may only be carried out by the control unit when the mobile handheld control unit is located at a predefined location.

Methods and systems for position-enabled control of a medical system

A system for wireless transmission of signals is provided. The system includes a mobile operator unit that is operable to transmit signals; and a base unit of a safety-critical device that is operable to receive signals from the mobile operator unit. The mobile operator unit is operable to categorize the signals to be transmitted as safety-relevant control signals and non-critical communication signals. Only the safety-relevant control signals are checked for error-free transmission. The non-critical communication signals are transmitted without error safety checking.

Wireless transmission of signals

An apparatus is provided for determining and monitoring parameters of a radiation treatment. The apparatus produces a first image of a region of a patient body to be radiated using a medical imaging process, determines a parameter setting of a radiation system using the first image, and provides the radiation treatment to the body region to be radiated using the radiation system with the determined parameter setting. The apparatus further produces a second image of the body region radiated with the parameter setting, automatically comparing the first image and the second image, and generates a deviation signal when a difference between the first image and the second image exceeds a predetermined threshold value.

Apparatus for performing radiation treatment

An apparatus for supporting a patient during radiation therapy includes a treatment table that is pivotable about a horizontal axis, and a laser measurement system which is designed to indicate a non-horizontal orientation of the treatment table to be adopted during the radiation therapy.

Apparatus for supporting a patient for radiation therapy

A particle therapy system for irradiating a volume of a patient to be irradiated with high-energy particles is provided. The system includes a radiation outlet of a radiation delivery and acceleration system from which a particle beam exits in order to interact with the patient positioned in an irradiation position; an imaging device for verifying the position of the volume to be irradiated in relation to the particle beam; and a patient-positioning device with which the patient can be brought into the irradiation position for irradiation. The imaging device checks the position of the volume to be irradiated in an imaging position of the patient that is spatially remote from the irradiation position, and the patient-positioning device automatically changes position between imaging position and irradiation position.

Particle therapy system

A method is provided for determining and monitoring parameters of a radiation treatment. The method comprises producing a first image of a region of a patient body to be radiated using a medical imaging process, determining a parameter setting of a radiation system using the first image, and providing the radiation treatment to the body region to be radiated using the radiation system with the determined parameter setting. The method further comprises producing a second image of the body region radiated with the parameter setting, automatically comparing the first image and the second image, and generating a deviation signal when a difference between the first image and the second image exceeds a predetermined threshold value.

Method and apparatus for performing radiation treatment

A medical examination and treatment apparatus includes a robot operable to control a tool, and an internal position-determination system to measure a position of the tool by determining a setting of adjusting elements of the robot. The apparatus further includes an external position-determination system to measure the position of the tool, and a position monitoring system to compare the position of the tool determined by the internal position-determination system with the position of the tool determined by the external position-determination system. A mobility of the tool is restricted if an adjustable threshold relating to deviations between position measurements is exceeded.

The invention relates to a patient-positioning device for positioning a patient in an irradiation position in a radiation therapy arrangement, in particular in a particle radiation therapy arrangement comprising a patient supporting module, which is provided with a patient supporting device for holding the patient in a body holder where the irradiation is to be carried out, wherein, said patient supporting device is mounted on a base unit in such a way that it is rotatable about an axis by means of a bearing, said base unit is provided with a coupling element, the inventive device is also provided with a positioning arm, which comprises several joints and a coupling point for coupling the coupling element and for freely positioning the patient in any predefined irradiation position by adjusting the angle of rotation of the patient supporting module.

Patient positioning device

An imaging device and therapy facility are provided. An imaging device includes a table that supports a patient. An image-making unit is operative to create digital picture data of a body region of the patient. The image-making unit is operative to three-dimensionally scale the coordinates of the picture data recorded with respect to a space coordinate system that is stationary with the table, with respect to a table coordinate system that is stationary with a patient support of the table, or with respect to both the space coordinate system and the table coordinate system.

Imaging device and therapy facility having such a device

An electrically conductive connection is provided. The electrically conductive connection includes a gantry, rotatable about a pivot axis, and a stand. The connection comprising a wireless electrical contact, and at least one defined rotary position of the gantry. The connection including a slipring and brush or a slipring and non-contact transmission. A radiation therapy system and method for operating a gantry of a radiation therapy system is also provided.

Electrically conductive connection for a medical gantry

The invention relates to a gantry system for a particle therapy facility, having a beam guidance gantry which has elements for beam guidance, and having a measurement gantry which has a device for beam monitoring. The measurement gantry and beam guidance gantry are thus of a mutually independent design and are, in particular, arranged in a mutually concentric manner. A gantry system of this kind is inter alia less susceptible to mechanical deviations during rotation of the beam guidance gantry.

Gantry system for a particle therapy facility

In a continuously operating tomography apparatus and an operating method therefore, a scanner unit is rotated around a system axis and first and second examination subjects are successively moved into the scanner unit and respective examinations of the first and second examination subjects are conducted without interruption of rotation of the scanner unit. The rotation frequency of the scanning unit is set differently dependent on the type of examination to be conducted, and when no examination of an examination subject is taking place, the scanning unit is rotated at a predetermined rest rotation frequency, that is smaller than a smallest of the available rotation frequencies for the examinations, or is an average of the rotation frequencies available for the examinations.

Continuously operating tomography apparatus and method for the operation thereof

A medical examination and treatment system comprises a radiation source that emits particle radiation, an X-ray emitter located on one side of a target volume and diametrically opposite to the radiation source, and a detector located between the target volume and the radiation source. The target volume is positioned to be exposed to the particle radiation. A radiation direction of the X-ray emitter is oriented opposite to a radiation direction of the particle radiation.

Medical examination and treatment system

A computed tomography apparatus has a gantry with a measuring opening, with an x-ray source movable around the measuring opening for irradiating an examination area from different directions, a detector for registering corresponding sets of projection data, and at least one support table having a support plate. The gantry can be moved into a use position independently of the support table and the support table is fashioned such that the support plate extends through the measuring opening when the gantry assumes a use position.
