In a method for operating a machine tool and a corresponding machine tool system, a generic first data model and engineering data are provided in an external server device. The engineering data contain information relating to a machine tool. After a user query regarding an operation of the machine tool, the first data model is translated and/or modified to become a second data model. This occurs in accordance with the engineering data and technical data of the user query by the external server device. The second data model is transferred from the external server device to the machine tool, and a control unit of the machine tool can operate the machine tool according to the second data model. The machine tool can thus be adapted outside the running time of the machine tool.

In a method for operating a production machine or machine tool, an app having at least one virtual container and an app configuration is downloaded from a remote memory store into a memory store of the machine, and an immediate start of the downloaded app on the production machine or machine tool is automatically prevented. A pitch system of a wind energy system includes an emergency energy store for moving a rotor blade into a safety position in the event of the failure of an external energy supply. The emergency energy store can be tested, for example to assess aging, by supplying electrical energy to an actuating device configured to set a pitch angle of a rotor blade even in a normal operating mode of the wind energy system temporarily exclusively from the emergency energy store. This configuration ensures reliable operation of a wind energy system.
