Methods and systems are provided for enabling a user of an online game to assemble a crew of additional crew members for accessing a content item after completing a goal with the crew. One example method includes sending, from the one or more servers to a client of a user, data for displaying a crew assembly dialog that includes a graphical user interface (GUI). The crew assembly dialog allowing the user to select crew members for assembling the crew for the online game. Sending, from the one or more servers in response to a selection made at the GUI, a help request directed to the at least one crew member for response from the at least one crew member. The method further includes assembling the crew based on the selection of the user for the at least one crew member and response of the at least one crew member to the help request. The assembling of the crew enables the user to make progress in the online game.

Methods and systems for assembly of crews for facilitating execution of social game activity

Methods and systems are provided for enabling a user of an online game to assemble a crew of additional crew members for accessing a content item after completing a goal with the crew. A method provides an operation for displaying a crew assembly dialog that includes a graphics user interface (GUI) allowing the user to select crew members for assembling the crew from a crew inventory. The method further provides operations for receiving a selection of at least one crew member and sending a help request directed to the at least one crew member. Additionally, the method provides for assembling the crew and detecting completion of the goal by the crew. Moreover, the method provides an operation for sending data to the user to access the content item.

A system, computer-readable storage medium storing at least one program, and a computer-implemented method for providing custom features in a game is provided. A themed game board associated with a first set of rules of a computer-implemented game is generated. The first set of rules relates to a theme of the themed game board and is different than a second set of rules associated with a game board without a theme. Game board display data is provided to a first client device of a first player to display the themed game board. A move on the themed game board is received from the first client device, and a score associated with the move is generated. The score is based on the first set of rules relating to the theme, where the score is different than a score associated with the move on the game board without a theme.

Then, querying data provided by the social networking system to analyze contact data of friends that are likely for crew participation, and sending an invite message to the friends that are likely for crew participation. The friends that are accepted are added as crew members for crew participation to complete the game activity. An in-game reward for each of the friends that are part of the crew participation is generated upon detecting completion of the game activity.

Methods for crew creation and management are provided. One method includes providing a user interface by the social gaming program for generating a request for help by a requestor to enable access to a content item in the social gaming program. The request for help is forwarded to friends of the requestor based on analysis of the social graph to define a crew of friends in the social gaming program. The method includes obtaining an indication of acceptance of the request for help from at least one friend of the requestor. The acceptance is utilized to increase a progress toward enabling access to the content item. The method also includes detecting completion of the progress by the crew of friends and enabling access to the content item. The detected completion is saved to a crew database to signal a level change in the social gaming program.
