The invention is the compact multiphase wave winding of a high specific torque electric machine The invention is the compact multiphase wave winding () of the electric machine. Winding () is filling the slots () of the stator ferromagnetic core () and comprise one or multiple layers (). Winding () fills the slots (). Winding comprise N or a multiple on N conductors (), where N represents the number of winding phases. Conductor () comprises or is assembled by parallel straight segments () and winding overhangs (). Between the two straight segments () of one conductor () there are N teeth () and N&#x2212;1 slots () or N+1 teeth () and N slots (). Straight segments are connected by winding overhangs which shape in tangential axial plane differs for less than one sixth of magnetic period () from ellipse shape with one axis equal to half of magnetic period () and other axis length between half and three quarters of magnetic period () length.

Compact multiphase wave winding of a high specific torque electric machine

A hybrid synchronous electric machine driven by the transverse magnetic flux has a rotor and a stator, the rotor armature has a massive cogged iron rings () in close vicinity of active parts of the motor, and cogged iron rings () as component parts of the rotor are provided with cross-cut insulating gaps. Eddy current losses are low because eddy currents in cogged iron rings are impeded by cross-cut insulating gaps therein. Eddy currents in all passive parts of the motor (rotor armature (), stator armature (), ball bearing () and the like) are negligible since the current induced in the copper ring () neutralizes all the dissipated magnetic flux outside the active area of the motor. A hybrid synchronous electric machine which has low eddy current losses and high energy efficiency can be realized.

A hybrid synchronous motor comprising a rotor and stators, wherein the stator has at least one assembly ( ) having a structure in which ferromagnetic rings ( ) formed with cogs on the both inner and outer circumferences thereof, are arranged coaxially, and a coil winding ( ) is wound on the assembly ( ) so as to be positioned between cogs. The hybrid synchronous motor exhibits a high magnetic flux density in the air gap as the result of transverse magnetic flux of the permanent magnets combined with longitudinal magnetic flux of the coils and high active surface at the air gap due to double (inner and outer) air gaps. Further, since it contains only a single set of stator coils and it has merely a small number of assembling parts and conventional techniques of fabrication may be applied, the motor is cheap in construction. Furthermore, the motor exhibits an excellent energy efficiency due to only small ohmic losses in the coils.
