The present invention relates to location/position-based context awareness for devices and mobile terminal devices, respectively. In particularly, the present invention relates to an infrastructure entity performing the location/position-based context awareness for a portable terminal device. According to the present invention an infrastructure entity and a method operable therewith for serving distance-dependent context information relating to a defined environment is provided. For instance, terminal/object distances are determined in accordance with a position of a portable terminal, each position of a plurality of objects and a position of an infrastructure entity, which is adapted to serve the aformentioned distance-dependent context information. Context information, which is associated with each of the plurality of object, is provided for being selected. Context information is selected from provided context information on the basis of the determined terminal/object distances. The selected context information is finally transmitted to the portable terminal for being processed thereon.

Position-based context awareness for mobile terminal device

The invention relates to an electronic device offering a plurality of menu items to a user. In order to enable a user friendly selection of the menu items, the electronic device comprises a screen, user input means, storing means adapted to store parameters for a virtual model of a user and processing means. The processing means are adapted to generate a visual representation of a virtual user model on the screen based on the stored parameters for the virtual model of a user, to cause a movement of a visually represented virtual user model depending on a user input, to detect a movement of a visually represented virtual user model that is associated to a particular menu item, and to call a function that is assigned to the particular menu item.

Offering menu items to a user

The present invention relates to location/position-based context awareness for devices and mobile terminal devices, respectively. In particularly, the present invention relates to an infrastructure entity performing the location/position-based context awareness for a portable terminal device. According to the present invention an infrastructure entity and a method operable therewith for serving distance-dependent context information relating to a defined environment is provided. The present invention discloses a method and device for determining and outputting a similarity measure between two data strings each data string comprising data entities, comprising: receiving a first data string, receiving a second data string, which is characterized by determining consecutively following data entities in the first data string, determining the relative positions of the consecutively following data entities in the first data string, determining similar data entities with the same order in the second data string, determining the relative positions of the determined data entities in the second data string, determining a matching measure by determining how far the relative positions of data entities in the second data string match with the relative positions of consecutively following data entities in the first data string, and outputting a similarity measure which corresponds to the matching measure of at least one comparison result.
