A hydrosilylation curable composition containing a comprising (A) 100 parts by weight of an organic polymer having on average at least 1.4 alkenyl groups per molecule; (B) an amount sufficient to cure the composition of a crosslinker having on average at least 1.4 Si&#x2014;H groups per molecule; (C) a platinum group metal-containing catalyst in an amount sufficient to effect curing of the composition; (D) 0.1 to 20 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of (A) of an alkoxy silyl substituted organic oligomer having a number average molecular weight in the range of 200 to 5,000, having a polymer backbone selected from the group of polybutadiene, polyisoprene, polyisobutylene, copolymers of isobutylene and isoprene, copolymers of isoprene and butadiene, copolymers of isoprene and styrene, copolymers of butadiene and styrene, copolymers of isoprene, butadiene and styrene and polyolefin polymers prepared by hydrogenating polyisoprene, polybutadiene or a copolymer of isoprene and styrene, a copolymer of butadiene and styrene or a copolymer of isoprene, butadiene and styrene, and optionally a titanium compound having Ti&#x2014;O&#x2014;C bonds. The composition provides improved self adhesion to substrates.

Hydrosilylation curable compositions

A sealed insulating glass unit comprises two glass sheets held apart by a spacer, optionally with a sealant between the edges of the glass sheets outside the spacer. The insulating glass unit contains an electronic device, having information relating to the origin, manufacture and/or properties of the insulating glass unit capable of being read from the device by means actuated from outside the insulating glass unit. The device is embedded within the spacer or sealant so that it is concealed within the insulating glass unit.

A method of making a polysiloxane containing polymer is described. The method comprises the steps of the polycondensation of a) 100 parts by weight of oligomers comprising non-cyclic siloxane containing oligomers having at least two condensable groups per molecule alone or in a mixture with one or organic oligomers having at least two condensable groups per molecule in the presence of: b) at least 2 parts by weight per 100 parts of (a) of one or more condensation catalysts comprising a Bronsted acid or a Lewis acid c) at least 15 parts by weight per 100 parts of (a) of one or more liquefied gases or a supercritical fluid therefrom. Subsequent to the reaction completion the polysiloxane containing polymer is recovered by expansion of the liquefied gas(es) or supercritical fluid (c).

Preparation of organosiloxane polymers

A method of making a polysiloxane containing polymer is described. The method comprises the steps of: i) Preparing a polysiloxane containing polymer by the polycondensation of siloxane containing monomers and/or oligomers which comprise at least 2 condensable groups per molecule, in the presence of (a) one or more condensation catalysts and optionally one or both of (b) a diluent (a plasticizer and/or extender) and/or an end-blocking agent; and ii) Where required quenching the polymerization process. The diluent, when present, is substantially retained within the resulting diluted polysiloxane containing polymer and the process takes place at a pressure of at least 75&#xd7;10Pa (0.75 MPa).

A water release agent that release water over an application temperature range in an amount sufficient to cure a composition is add to a curable composition containing 10 to 65 weight % of a moisture-curable, silane-functional, elastomeric, organic polymer; 0.1 to 3 weight % of a condensation catalyst; and (C) 15 to 25 weight % of a physical drying agent. When used as an edge-seal in an IG unit, the cured product of the composition performs the functions of sealing, bonding, spacing, and desiccating.

Chemically curing all-in-one warm edge spacer and seal

A silicone composition comprising a polymer having siloxane units and two or more silicon bonded hydroxyl or hydrolyzable groups per molecule; a crosslinker; an extender material which is either an alkyl substituted aryl compound such as a heavy alkylate, or a alkylcycloaliphatic compound; and a u.v. light stabilizer comprising a benzotriazole moiety. These compositions are useful, for example as room temperature vulcanizable sealants. They retain color clarity or transparency, even on ageing.
