A microphone includes a microelectromechanical system (MEMS) device responsive to sound waves or vibrations having an output coupled to a first node; a programmable gain amplifier or source follower having an input coupled to a second node, and an output for generating an analog signal, wherein the MEMS device output and the programmable gain amplifier or source follower input comprise a first nonlinear equivalent capacitance having a first capacitance-to-voltage (CV) profile; and a nonlinear capacitance component coupled to the first node, the second node, and at least one reference voltage node, wherein the nonlinear capacitance component comprises a second nonlinear equivalent capacitance having a second CV profile.

Capacitive linearization method applied to MEMS microphones systems

A microphone includes a first resistor circuit for receiving a bias voltage; an offset reduction circuit coupled to the first resistor circuit; a second resistor circuit coupled to the offset reduction circuit; an amplifier coupled to the second resistor circuit configured for receiving an input signal and generating an output signal; and a capacitor circuit coupled to the amplifier, the offset reduction circuit, and the second resistor circuit.

The deflectable membrane structure of the pressure sensing portion opposes the plane of the first main surface region of the substrate. The first and second rigid electrodes of the pressure sensor form a reference capacitor of the pressure sensor, and the second rigid electrode and the membrane structure form a sense capacitor of the pressure sensor.

A logarithmic amplifier includes programmable gain amplifiers each having a different gain, wherein an input of each of the programmable gain amplifiers is coupled to an input of the logarithmic amplifier; and a summing circuit having inputs coupled to a corresponding output of each of the programmable gain amplifiers and an output coupled to an output of the logarithmic amplifier, wherein the summing circuit generates a logarithmic transfer function having piecewise linear segments.

An adaptive MEMS device includes a MEMS microphone and integrated circuitry, wherein the integrated circuitry is electrically connected to the MEMS microphone. The integrated circuitry reads out an output signal from the MEMS microphone and provides the output signal or a rendered output signal, via a first integrated interface, to an external processing device. Additionally, the integrated circuitry determines, at run-time, diagnostic data on the current condition of the MEMS device and provides, at run-time, the diagnostic data, via a second integrated interface, to the external processing device.

In accordance with an embodiment, a circuit includes: a first super source follower; a compensation circuit having a compensating node configured to provide a voltage of opposite phase of a voltage of an internal node of the first super source follower; and a first compensation capacitor coupled between an input of the first super source follower and the compensating node of the compensation circuit.
