An RFID reader that is situated in a recess of an apparatus housing, such that the apparatus housing is constituted of an electrically conductive material, and such that the RFID reader is configured as an RFID reader operating according to the 'EMV Contactless Protocol Specification, Version 2.1, March 2011,' such that the RFID antenna is situated in or on a plane constituted by the apparatus housing or inside the apparatus housing, such that the RFID reader has a transmitting power of more than 400 milliwatts, and that a quality factor (Q) of the RFID antenna is in a range between Q=12 and Q=20. In addition, the invention relates to an apparatus with an RFID reader of this type.

An electronic circuit for a high-frequency switch for opening an antenna resonance circuit of an RFID system, wherein the high-frequency switch can be opened and closed by d.c. voltages, in which circuit a rectifier circuit generates the blocking voltage for opening the high-frequency switch from the high-frequency supply voltage, the rectifier circuit is designed such that it generates a blocking voltage whose value corresponds at least to the peak-to-peak value of the high-frequency voltage to be switched, the blocking voltage is conducted via the same electric connecting line via which the high-frequency supply voltage and a closing voltage are also conducted to the antenna of the RFID system, and a resistor is connected in parallel with each of the PIN diodes, which are series-connected with respect to direct current.

A method for data transmission between a write/read station of a radio frequency identification system and at least one external functional unit sends at least one data block from the write/read station to the external functional unit. The transmitted data block is received by at least one of the external functional units, and after reception of the transmitted data block, at least one external functional unit evaluates the at least one data block. The transmission of the at least one data block takes place exclusively by way of an RFID communication connection from the write/read station to the at least one functional unit and/or back.
