A rear floor structure for a motor vehicle includes, but is not limited to two longitudinal girders extending between rear wheel houses. A downwardly open pocket for receiving a shock absorber is formed in each of the longitudinal girders.

A body structure of a motor vehicle is provided that includes, but is not limited to a floor panel, that has an inner side directed toward the motor vehicle interior and an outer side directed toward the motor vehicle exterior, and also includes, but is not limited to a seat mounting for securing a motor vehicle seat. To reduce driving noise and air resistance, it is provided that on the outer side thereof, the floor panel is free from corrugations or stiffening structures running predominantly in the transverse direction of the motor vehicle. In the case of a hinge device with an arm and with two head pieces mounted to pivot/swivel on the ends of the arm around respectively one axis, the head pieces are respectively joined to revolve with one of the two belt pulleys, which are circumscribed by a common traction belt on one circumferential surface, and at least one of the belt pulleys is not circular but preferably elliptical.
