An electrical circuit for providing an output signal based on a first input signal and a second input signal has: a mixer which is configured to receive and mix the first and second input signals in order to generate a mixer output signal and to switch on or off based on the first input signal, wherein a DC signal component of the mixer output signal depends on whether the mixer is switched on or off; and a downstream circuit which is configured to switch on or off based on the DC signal component of the mixer output signal and to provide the output signal based on the mixer output signal.

A radio-frequency device comprises a semiconductor package, which comprises a radio-frequency chip and a radio-frequency antenna. The semiconductor package is designed to be mechanically and electrically connected to a circuit board via at least one connecting element of the semiconductor package, with one surface of the semiconductor package facing the circuit board. The radio-frequency device also comprises a waveguide structure oriented in a direction parallel to the surface of the semiconductor package, the radio-frequency antenna being designed for at least one of the following: to emit radiation into the waveguide structure in the direction parallel to the surface of the semiconductor package, or to receive signals via the waveguide structure in the direction parallel to the surface of the semiconductor package.

A method is described for detecting a rotating wheel of a vehicle that is travelling on a roadway in a travel direction, the wheels of which are at least partially exposed laterally, the method comprising: emitting an electromagnetic measurement beam having a known temporal progression of its frequency onto a first section above the roadway in a direction in a slant with respect to the vertical and normally or at a slant with respect to the travel direction; receiving a reflected measurement beam and recording the temporal progression of its frequencies, relative to the known progression, as a reception frequency mixture progression; and detecting a frequency band, which is continuously inclining or declining over a period of time, in the reception frequency mixture progression as a wheel. A device for conducting the method is also described.

Method and device for detecting a rotating wheel

A method for positioning a welding head or welding torch of a robot welding system over a workpiece sends microwaves as a measuring signal from a transmitter arranged on the welding head to the workpiece. The microwaves reflected on the workpiece are received by at least one receiver arranged on the welding head, and the received microwaves are evaluated by an evaluation module for determining the position of a workpiece edge. The microwaves are sent from at least one transmitter in different positions on the welding head, and the reflected microwaves are received, with a change of polarization, by the at least one receiver, having a polarization plane arranged at an angle to the polarization plane of the transmitter. The position of the edge is determined by the evaluation module at least on the basis of a phase change of the respective microwaves reflected on the different positions.

Embodiments relate to two-dimensional antenna arrays. In one embodiment, an antenna array includes single-ended fed patch antennas and differentially fed patches. Field polarization of the radiated and/or received EM waves is different by 90 degrees for each different antenna type. Thus, an aligned polarization pattern can be achieved using orthogonal feeding direction for single-ended and differential patches. Embodiments can be used in radar or virtually any other 2D array antenna system.

Two-dimensional antenna arrays for beamforming applications

One embodiment relates to a coupler that can be used in a radar system. The coupler includes differential ports, an antenna port, a receiver port, a local port and a transmission path. The differential ports are configured to receive a differential signal. The antenna port is configured to output a transmitted signal and to input a received signal. The transmitted signal is derived from the differential signal. The receiver port is configured to output a portion or version of the received signal. The local port outputs a local signal, which is also derived from the differential signal. The transmission path is coupled to the differential ports, the antenna port, the receiver port and the local port. The transmission path typically has a length selected to derive or output the signals at the above ports.

A plurality of exchangeable, different piezoelectric pressure sensors () comprise integrated SAW elements () as identification units whose identification data can be read by an interrogation unit () via a common connection cable (). The analysis unit () for the measurement signals and the interrogation unit () for the identification data can be connected by a common coupling unit () to the connection cable (). The coupling unit () has a coupling capacity () which connects with high frequency the interrogation unit () to the signal line of the connection cable (), as well as a coupling inductance () which connects with low frequency the load amplifier () of the analysis unit () to the connection cable (), thus neatly separating the useful signal from the identification signal and keeping a high-impedance measurement chain from the sensor () to the input of the load amplifier (). An SFSCW radar can further be used to improve interrogation of the identification data.
