A manifold system for an internal combustion engine, having a housing, which is designed as a collecting manifold and which has two inlet openings and an outlet opening for the flow connection of two outlets of an internal combustion engine to an exhaust system and at most two connection openings provided on the housing for connecting a double-shell inner air-gap-insulated manifold. An exhaust system is developed in such a way that, at the same time, the tone of the exhaust gas noise and thus of the exhaust system is optimized over a plurality of important rotational speed ranges of the internal combustion engine by a modular assembly. For this purpose, at least one separate inner air-gap-insulated manifold having a connection opening, an inlet opening, and an outlet opening is provided, which is connected to the housing by the outlet opening, and at least one separate outer air-gap-insulated manifold having an inlet opening and an outlet opening is connected to the connection opening of the inner air-gap-insulated manifold. All air-gap-insulated manifolds are completely formed of sheet metal, and each air-gap-insulated manifold has a separate one- or multi-part inner shell and a one- or multi-part separate outer shell. All inner air-gap-insulated manifolds are structurally or geometrically identical and all outer air-gap-insulated manifolds are structurally or geometrically identical, wherein the inner air-gap-insulated manifolds are not structurally identical and not geometrically identical to the outer air-gap-insulated manifolds.

Manifold

A flange plate for a manifold of an exhaust-gas system for internal combustion engines, which flange plate can be fixed via at least one holding device to an exhaust-gas outlet connecting piece of the internal combustion engine by a first outer layer, formed as a mounting layer, which can be placed at least partially directly or indirectly against the exhaust-gas outlet connecting piece via a seal, and the flange plate can be applied to the holding device by a second outer layer, formed as a holding layer, in order to generate a holding force F, acting at a right angle to the mounting layer, for sealingly placing the mounting layer against the exhaust-gas outlet connecting piece, and the flange plate having at least a first intermediate layer which is arranged, relative to the holding force F, between the mounting layer and the holding layer. Here, the first intermediate layer is formed as a cavity structure, wherein the cavity structure has single- or multiple-part wall parts which extend in a direction parallel to the mounting layer and are arranged adjacent to one another, the wall parts having a width b, measured in a direction parallel to the mounting layer, and having a height h, measured in a direction at a right angle to the mounting layer, where h&#x3e;b, wherein the different wall parts delimit a plurality of cavities which are open towards the mounting layer or towards the holding layer or, together with the mounting layer and the holding layer, delimit an open-ended channel.

Flange plate

A housing for fluidically connecting an exhaust gas line to an exhaust gas heat exchanger, wherein the main flow channel of the housing extends in the direction of a central axis (X), from an inlet opening to an outlet opening, with an average flow cross section (SQ). In the main flow channel, at least one opening is provided in the housing for a valve shaft, and on the housing, at least one bypass opening formed by a connecting piece is provided between the inlet opening and the outlet opening. The housing is formed by a maximum of two deep-drawn sub-shells made of sheet metal, wherein the connecting piece is formed circumferentially around the bypass axis (Y) for connecting an exhaust gas heat exchanger via the upper shell and/or via the lower shell.

Valve housing and valve

An exhaust pipe flange with an exhaust gas pipe and with a flange plate fastened to the exhaust gas pipe, wherein the flange plate has an inner side which can be turned toward a cylinder head with a sealing surface which can be placed directly or indirectly against a cylinder head, and a seat in which the exhaust gas pipe is received. The exhaust gas pipe is joined to the flange plate and sealed in the region of the seat on the inner side by a welded connection.

Exhaust pipe flange

Modular manifold for motor vehicles

An exhaust-gas heat exchanger for an exhaust system for cooling an exhaust-gas flow, having an inner pipe and an outer pipe, wherein the two pipes are indirectly or directly welded to one another in sealing fashion at the inlet side, a jacket pipe is arranged around the outside of the outer pipe and an annular gap for coolant is arranged between the outer pipe and the jacket pipe, and the inner pipe has an axial flow cross section (A) at the end as viewed in the flow direction (S) and has a perforation (P), which forms a radial flow cross section, in a direction at right angles to a flow direction (S). Between the inner pipe and the outer pipe there is formed an exhaust-gas duct for the exhaust-gas flow, wherein an intermediate pipe which is mounted in displaceable and/or rotatable fashion on the inner pipe is provided with a perforation (P) by which the axial flow cross section (A) of the inner pipe can be at least partially closed off.

Exhaust gas system

A process for producing exhaust gas manifolds is provided, which have a flange for fastening to the cylinder head of an internal combustion engine, manifold pipes for leading off the exhaust gases flowing from the cylinders, and a pipe connector, wherein the pipe connector has openings for the manifold pipes. In accordance with the invention, the pipe connector is designed with reinforced openings. Then the ends of the manifold pipes are introduced into the openings and expanded. In this process, the pipe ends undergo plastic deformation, and the pipes are connected gas-tight.

Processes for producing exhaust gas manifolds

A device for fastening an exhaust manifold to an internal combustion engine is provided. The device includes two parts. A first part that has first elongated holes for a screw fastening to the engine and openings for a screw fastening of a second bracket part. The second bracket part is fork-shaped, angular, and has on the angle branch facing the first bracket part second elongated holes and on the other angle branch, third elongated holes. The longitudinal axes of at least two of the elongated holes are oriented perpendicular to one another.

Devices for fastening an exhaust manifold to an internal combustion engine

An exhaust system is disclosed that has pipes and a housing, through which exhaust fumes of an internal combustion engine flow. The exhaust fumes generate a condensate, at least in part and/or in certain areas. To prevent the corrosion of sheet metal by the condensate, a sacrificial anode, which can be made of zinc and/or magnesium, is provided at least in one of the areas where the condensate collects.

Exhaust system

An air gap-insulated exhaust manifold for internal combustion engines. The manifold includes a flange with openings for fastening elements and further openings, which align with the cylinder exhaust ports of the internal combustion engine. A gas-tight outer shell is connected to the flange. An inner shell is provided with openings, which align with the cylinder exhaust ports of the internal combustion engine. The outer shell has a trough-shaped lower part and a hood-shaped upper part, which is welded gas-tight to the lower part. The inner shell has a trough-shaped lower part and a hood-shaped upper part. The outer shell is connected to the flange in a gas-tight manner. The inner shell is firmly attached to the outer shell at only one place.
