A method and a direct-printing machine for printing on containers of different types of materials in a direct-printing process, wherein containers of a first type of material are conveyed by means of a conveyor and printed on, in several layers, with a plurality of printing units by means of direct-printing heads with a first basic ink compatible with the first type of material () and, on top of the first basic ink, with at least one colored ink. The first basic ink may be exchanged for a second basic ink, which is compatible with the second type of material, when a change to containers of a second type of material takes place, and the containers of the second type of material may then be printed on, in several layers, with the second basic ink () and, on top of the second basic ink, with the at least one colored ink.

Method and direct-printing machine for printing containers of different material types in a direct-printing process

The invention relates to a method for printing objects, in particular containers, wherein the containers are transported along a specified transport path, and the outer surface of the containers is printed at least temporarily by means of at least one printing unit, wherein a controller controls the printing of the containers by means of the at least one printing unit on the basis of at least one printing parameter. According to the invention, at least one object to be printed is printed with at least one test marking in order to ascertain the printing parameter, and the object provided with the test marking is then inspected by means of at least one inspection device, wherein the printing parameter is derived from the result of the inspection.

A method and a device for ink-jet printing onto containers is described, in which at least one container is rotated and/or transported along a curved path, and associated surface velocities of partially circumferential portions of a lateral container surface are measured, where the printing times and/or a rotational velocity of the containers associated with the partially circumferential and/or intermediately disposed portions are adapted to the surface velocities. Changes in the print advance rate caused by different surface velocities in front of print heads can thereby be compensated. This allows for uniform print resolution and seamless joining of partial prints.

In a method and a device for inkjet printing on containers, at least a first and a second subprint complementing each other in the printing direction so as to form a print image are joined. The first subprint is printed starting from a connection area or up to a connection area.
