An electric heating device includes a casing that forms inlet and outlet openings for the fluid to be heated and a circulation chamber as well as a connection chamber separated from the circulation chamber by way of a partition wall. A heat-emitting surface of a PTC heating element is exposed in the circulation chamber and is coupled in a heat-conductive manner to a PTC element. The PTC element is in electrically conductive contact, which via electrical conductor tracks with different polarities that are electrically connected in the connection chamber. The casing is a plastic casing provided with a shielding.

Electric heating device

An electric heating device includes a casing which forms inlet and outlet openings for a fluid to be heated and a circulation chamber communicating with the inlet and outlet openings, and into which at least one PTC heating element with at least one PTC element projects which is, for electrical contact, provided with contact strips which are exposed in a connection chamber which is separated from the circulation chamber by way a partition wall. The casing further forms a control chamber for accommodating a control device which, with regard to controlling, is coupled to the at least one PTC heating element. An integrally formed casing base member, made of a plastic material, forms the partition wall and walls which circumferentially surround the circulation chamber and the connection chamber.

A PTC heating element includes a heating element casing that fits, as a structural unit, at least one PTC element and contact plates that energize the PTC element and that form contact strips for an electrical plug connection in order to electrically connect electrodes that are electrically connected to the PTC element. The PTC element is covered with an insulation layer at least on one of its two main side surfaces. In order to provide such a heating element casing that is inexpensive to produce and of a light-weight configuration, the PTC heating element comprises an injection-molded plastic frame which encloses the insulation layer only at the edge and which defines oppositely disposed frame openings, behind which the PTC element with its main side surfaces is located.

A controller for an electric heating device comprising a support element and a busbar which is secured on the support element and which is connected to an SMD component in an electrically conductive manner. The busbar is part of an initially single-part stamped metal plate with a severed connecting piece, which separates the metal plate into a supply element and a discharge element, the elements being connected together in an electrically conductive manner solely via the SMD component. Also disclosed is a method of producing an electric heating device generally as described above such that the supply element and the discharge element are produced from the supply element region and the discharge element region on the stamped metal plate, respectively.

Controller for an electric heating device and method for producing same

An electric heating device a PTC heating element, a platelet-type PTC element which has two main side surfaces and face side surfaces extending perpendicular to the main side surfaces, and a casing. The casing forms inlet and outlet openings for the fluid to be heated and forms a circulation chamber in which a heat emitting surface of the PTC heating element is exposed and is coupled in a heat conductive manner to the PTC element. The PTC element is contacted in an electrically conductive manner by way of electrical conductor tracks to different polarities. A high degree of efficiency and a high output is obtained in that the conductor tracks are contacted in an electrically conductive manner to face side surfaces of the PTC element.

A PTC heating element is provided that includes including a PTC heating element strip conductors via which the PTC element is powered and at least one of which is insulated on an outer surface with an electrical insulation layer. In order to provide improved insulation while maintaining adequate heat transfer from the PTC element to the heat-emitting surface through the electrical insulation layer, the electrical insulation layer comprises a film and an electrically insulating mass of good thermal conductivity applied to the film. Also provided is an electric heating device for an automotive vehicle that is provided with at least one PTC heating element of such a type.

A PTC heating element includes at least one PTC element provided between strip conductors. To reduce the air gap and creep distance between the two strip conductors an insulating mass seals at least one of the strip conductors and/or the PTC element over the whole circumference. In the electric heating device according to the invention, such a PTC heating element lies in an electrically conducting manner against heat-emitting surfaces of the heating device. According to the method of the invention for producing an electric heating device, the strip conductors are glued to the PTC element for producing a PTC heating cell. The PTC heating cell is then sealed between two electrical insulation layers by an insulating mass which is applied circumferentially around at least one of the strip conductors and/or the PTC element.

PTC heating element and electric heating device comprising such a PTC heating element and method for producing an electric heating device

An electric heating device has several PTC heating elements that are arranged in a circulation chamber. The electric heating device includes a heating element casing which fits as a structural unit at least one PTC element and contact plates that energize said PTC element and form contact strips for an electrical plug connection. A partition wall separates the circulation chamber from a connection chamber in which the contact strips of the PTC heating element penetrating the partition wall are exposed and are electrically connected. A plug connection is formed between the partition wall and the PTC heating element and via which the PTC heating element is held in a frictionally engaged and/or in positive fit manner on the partition wall in the direction of insertion.

An electric heating device including a heater housing in which a partition separates a circulation chamber, through which a medium to be heated can flow, from a connection chamber in which electrical connections of a PTC heating element introduced into a recess of a heating rib projecting from the partition into the circulation chamber are exposed. The PTC heating element has at least one PTC element and strip conductors lying against it at both sides, of which at least one strip conductor is covered by an electrical insulation layer. To create an electric heating device which permits a delivery of heat of the PTC heating element to the environment in an improved way, the heating rib is formed by a heating rib frame which comprises at least one window in which the insulation layer is exposed.
