A device for limiting a short-circuit current in an alternating-current low-voltage installation includes one or more supply lines having power-supply points with power-supply aggregates protected by feeder switches. The supply lines are separated at an isolating point into two line sections in response to a short circuit fault. One or more polyphase high-speed short-circuiting devices are coupled to the isolating point, having a current carrying capacity sufficient for short-circuit current intensities occurring on the supply line. The high-speed short-circuiting device performs a short-circuit switching operation at the isolating point in response to a trip signal. Two power circuit breakers are each connected in series between each of the line sections and the high-speed short circuiting device. A current-sensing device is coupled to each line section. The current-sensing device detects the short circuit fault, and transmits the trip signal to the high-speed short circuiting device.

Short-circuit limiting device in a low-voltage installation

A device for limiting short-circuit current in a consumer network having at least one supply line with a respective current feed point includes a disconnection point disposed in the at least one supply line so as to provide a first partial line and a second partial line in an event of a short-circuit fault. Each of the first and second partial lines has a respective associated current detector and at least one of the first and second partial lines has at least one current feed aggregate. The device includes a multiphase high-speed short circuiter having a current carrying capacity for short-circuit current intensities in the at least one supply line and a respective power circuit breaker connected in series with the high-speed short circuiter. The respective associated current detector is configured, upon detection of a short circuit in one of the first and second partial lines, to transmit a triggering signal so as to effect a short-circuit switching operation.

Short circuit limitation device in a low voltage system

A power switch disposed in a housing includes a contact breaker configured to connect and disconnect a low-voltage switchgear from a power source supplying the low-voltage switchgear, a triggering device configured to disconnect the low-voltage switchgear in an overload event, a current detection device, a control device, a first evaluation device configured to evaluate an accidental arc overcurrent, and a second evaluation device configured to evaluate the accidental arc overcurrent. The power switch is configured to be activated via an overcurrent signal generated by an arc monitoring system in response to the accidental arc overcurrent. The overcurrent signal is linked to the at least one triggering signal. The second evaluation has a threshold above a threshold of the first evaluation device. The triggering device is configured to be activated via a turn-off pulse when a signal from the current detection device is above the threshold of the second evaluation device.

Power switch for preventing accidental arcs

A circuit breaker for multi-phase power includes an opening-closing apparatus configured to open and close each phase of the multiphase power, a detection unit configured to detect a fault current in at least one phase of an electrical installation being protected by the circuit breaker, a plurality of connecting bars disposed on a load side of the circuit breaker, and a short circuiter disposed on the connecting bars and configured to produce a short circuit between the connecting bars if a fault current is detected by the fault-current detection unit. When a fault current occurs, a tripping signal can be transmitted by the detection system to the short circuiter. The circuit breaker is also fully operational, even without a function-activated short circuiter.

Circuit breaker and short circuiter combination

A circuit breaker for multi-phase power includes an opening-closing apparatus configured to open and close each phase of the multiphase power, a detection unit configured to detect a fault current in at least one phase of an electrical installation, a plurality of connecting bars disposed on a load side of the circuit breaker, and a fastening device disposed on the connecting bars and configured to detachably fasten a short circuiter to the connecting bars, the short circuiter configured to create a short circuit between the connecting bars when a fault is detected by the detection unit. The option proposed according to the invention of installing a short circuiter means that the circuit breaker is fully operational, either with or without the installation of a short circuiter.

Electrical circuit breaker

An electric power distribution switching device including a detector for detecting accidental arcs in the electric power distribution switching device, which detector includes at least one waveguide in which the light generated by the arc and reaching it via its casing is used as a triggering or warning criterion. The detector can include a support rod, a waveguide wound helically around the support rod, and two plug connectors fitted at the ends of the support rod. The detector also includes a heat-shrink sleeve which is permeable to light and UV radiation. The heat-shrink sleeve is fitted over the support rod, the waveguide and the plug connectors. A detector configured in this manner can prevent damage to the detector during installation or fitting in the switching equipment.
