A rotary encoder includes a stator and a rotor, the rotor being disposed in a manner allowing rotation relative to the stator with the aid of a bearing. The rotor has a shaft, a positive-locking device as well as a code disk being secured in rotatably fixed manner to the shaft. The stator has a body having a scanning device for scanning the code disk, a compensating coupling and a housing. The body is joined to the housing by the compensating coupling. The housing has a further positive-locking device, the rotary encoder being pre-adjusted such that in operation of the rotary encoder, at a predefined relative angular position between the positive-locking device of the shaft and the further positive-locking device of the housing, a predefined angle value is able to be output by the rotary encoder. A series of rotary encoders may be provided.

A method for assembling a position measuring arrangement for measuring a relative position of a first object with respect to a second object, wherein the position measuring arrangement includes a first unit movable in relation to a second unit of the position measuring arrangement, the method including fastening said first unit to the first object and fastening the second unit to the second object. The method further including adjusting a required scanning distance (A) between a scanning element of the second unit and a graduation of the second unit by applying a gauge to a first limit stop face of the first unit, as well as to a second limit stop face of the second unit. Prior to the fastening the first unit and the fastening the second unit, positioning and fixing either the first limit stop face on the first unit or the second limit stop face on the second unit in a direction of the required scanning distance so that the scanning distance (A) is optimally adjusted.

Position measuring arrangement and procedure for the assembly of a position measuring arrangement

A field-modulating angular position measuring device includes a scanning device, a measuring graduation, and evaluation electronics, the scanning device and the measuring graduation being arranged at a scanning distance rotatably relative to each other, and angle-dependent output signals being producible by the scanning device, which may be processed further in the evaluation electronics. The angular position measuring device furthermore has a unit for determining the signal amplitudes of the output signals. The angular position measuring device furthermore includes a temperature sensor, which is able to determine a temperature in the angular position measuring device. The angular position measuring device is configured such that the scanning distance may be determined on the basis of the temperature and the signal amplitudes. Furthermore, a method for operating such an angular position measuring device makes it possible, e.g., to determine a change in length of a shaft.

Field-modulating angular position measuring device having a scanning distance determinable in accordance with temperature and signal amplitudes

A scale that includes a first base body having a first non-magnetizable support and a first set of magnetic elements that are arranged laterally next to the first non-magnetizable support, are magnetized in a single identical direction and are arranged in a measuring direction. A second base body having a second non-magnetizable support and a second set of magnetic elements that are arranged laterally next to the second non-magnetizable support, are magnetized in the single identical direction and area arranged in the measuring direction. The first base body and the second base body are put together such that in the measuring direction alternating ones of the first and second sets of magnetic elements are arranged and the first and second sets of magnetic elements have different magnetic orientations with respect to each other.

A measuring graduation for position measuring systems has a base body formed of a permanently magnetizable material, extending in a measuring direction and having first and second sections alternatingly arranged one after another in the measuring direction and having, respectively, first and second magnetization directions, with the second sections being formed by magnetically weak regions, and with the second magnetization direction of the second sections being defined by the first magnetization direction of adjacent first sections; and the method of magnetization of the base body includes magnetizing the base body in a homogenous outer magnetic field.

An angle measuring instrument having a device for determining a shaft angular position within one shaft rotation, and a device for determining a number of executed shaft rotations having a gear including at least one gear for converting the shaft rotary motion into rotary motion having a defined reduction ratio. The gear unit includes at least one gear wheel which rotates in a defined ratio to the shaft rotary motion. Devices are provided for generating sensor signals which are positionally dependent and are dependent upon the shaft rotations, in which the detecting device inductively scans reduced rotational movements of the shaft, and has alternating electrically conductive and electrically non-conductive graduation regions and a scanning device, movable relative to the graduation structure, including a device for generating a homogeneous electromagnetic field and a sensor device to scan the graduation structure and to transmit sensor signals which are dependent upon the shaft rotations.

A positioning device for setting the scanning distance between a scanning element and a scale of a position measuring device, the positioning device including a first part that is fixed in at least one direction of motion along a scanning distance directly or indirectly to the scale and a second part is fixed in at least one direction of motion along the scanning distance directly or indirectly to the scanning element, wherein the first or second part is displaceable relative to the other part in the direction of the scanning distance, and the displacement distance is defined. The first or second part includes a receptacle that is clamped to a face, extending in the direction of the scanning distance, of the scale or to a support of the scale, or to the scanning element or to a support of the scanning element.

Method for assembling a position measuring device and a positioning means for the assembly

A multi-turn rotary encoder that includes a first code carrier connected with an input shaft, a scanning device that scans the first code carrier and generates an absolute position of the input shaft within one revolution, and a digital code word is present at an output of the scanning device and a second code carrier for measuring the number of revolutions of the input shaft. A reduction gear is arranged between and coupled to the first and second code carriers. The second code carrier includes a magnetic body with at least one north and south pole and a substrate with a spatial arrangement of sensor elements integrated therein, which are sensitive to magnetic fields, is associated with the magnetic body. An evaluation circuit integrated into the substrate, wherein scanning signals, which are phase-shifted with respect to each other, from the sensor elements are supplied, and that the evaluation circuit combines the scanning signals in such a way that a second digital code word is present serially or in parallel at an output of the evaluation circuit. A combination logical device, which is supplied with the first and second digital code words and which forms a resultant multi-digit code word therefrom.
