According to one aspect, the invention relates to a device for identifying errors in a computer network. The network comprises at least one coupling element, which interconnects at least two network subscribers. The coupling element comprises a memory for an actual configuration of the coupling element. The coupling element forwards or discards data packets according to the actual configuration. The device has a target configuration for the coupling element, and the device is designed to compare the actual configuration with the target configuration.

A method for secure authentication of control apparatuses in a motor vehicle includes sending an authentication request to a control apparatus of the motor vehicle, receiving an authentication response of the control apparatus and checking the received authentication response. If a result of the checking is that the received authentication response is invalid, the method further includes transferring the control apparatus to a fallback mode, where the fallback mode being safe for the purposes of a dependability of the applicable motor vehicle. The authentication response of the control apparatus is provided based on at least part of authenticity information of the control apparatus. The transmitting of the authentication request and authentication response is effected in an encrypted fashion in each case, and the checking of the received authentication response includes decrypting the received authentication response.

An image processing system for a vehicle includes a first unit, a second unit and a video transmission link, which couples the first and second units, in terms of signaling, for transmitting digital video data. The video transmission link transmits digital video image signals having a predefined data format for a respective pixel of a video image, the data format including three blocks, each having a predefined number of bits. The first unit ascertains an uncompressed transformed video image signal suitable for transmission via the video transmission link as a function of a respective first video image signal such that the transformed video image signal has the predefined data format of the video transmission link. The first video image signal represents respective uncompressed first video images of a sequence of first video images, which are provided at a predefined frame rate and which, in each case, have a first image resolution having a predefined number of pixels, wherein in each case four pixel values are assigned to the respective pixels of the first video image. The second unit is designed to again ascertain the first video image signal as a function of the transformed video image signal received via the transmission link.
