A bumper assembly for a motor vehicle has a cross member and crash boxes. The cross member has a front side open profile with a rear wall and an upper leg and a lower leg. Furthermore, a tow bushing is provided. The tow bushing is able to be arranged above the upper leg or below the lower leg and is able to be arranged laterally offset next to a crash box.

Motor vehicle bumper assembly

A motor vehicle bumper that has a transverse carrier which can be secured transversely relative to the longitudinal carriers of the motor vehicle by crash boxes. The transverse carrier has a shell member which is open toward the front side and which has a rear wall and two outer members which are both adjoined at the end side by an outwardly directed longitudinal flange. The shell member has a central longitudinal portion which is adjoined in the direction toward the two ends of the transverse carrier by a transition portion, an intermediate portion, a crash box connection portion and an end portion. The shell member is closed at least over the majority of the length thereof by a closure plate which forms the front side. In the transition portions, the shell member has a minimum depth which is less than the maximum depth in the central longitudinal portion.

Motor vehicle bumper

The invention relates to a crash box having a plurality of hollow chambers which extend over the longitudinal extent of the crash box, a first hollow chamber being arranged offset in terms of height with respect to a second hollow chamber and a third hollow chamber in the mounted position. Here, the first hollow chamber is separated by means of a dividing wall from the second and third hollow chambers which are preferably arranged next to one another above or below the first hollow chamber.

The invention relates to a crashbox for a bumper system of a motor vehicle, comprising an upper wall and a lower wall, wherein the crashbox is divided in the longitudinal extent thereof into a first length portion and an adjoining second length portion (), wherein, in the first length portion, a longitudinal plane of the upper wall intersects a central longitudinal plane of the crashbox at an angle &#x394;, and a longitudinal plane of the lower wall intersects the central longitudinal plane of the crashbox at an angle &#x394;, wherein the following holds true: &#x2212;5&#xb0;&#x2266;&#x394;&#x2266;5&#xb0; and &#x2212;5&#xb0;&#x2266;&#x394;&#x2266;5&#xb0;, and wherein, in the second length portion, a longitudinal plane of the upper wall () intersects a longitudinal plane of the lower wall at an angle &#x3b1;.

Crashbox for a bumper system of a motor vehicle

A door impact beam for a motor vehicle includes a pot-shaped member made from a metal sheet and extending over a major part of a length of the beam to define two legs and a bridge interconnecting the legs. The bridge has a central length portion which is formed with an embossment defined by a depth, with a ratio of the depth of the embossment to a height of the pot-shaped member in midsection ranging between 1:3 and 1:6. The pot-shaped member has side flanges extending transversely from lower longitudinal edges of the legs in the central length portion.

Door impact beam

A bumper for an automobile includes a crossbeam which is formed from at least two separate hollow profiles, wherein the hollow profiles abut one another along a longitudinal wall and are joined with one another. The abutting longitudinal walls form a double web oriented in the longitudinal direction of the automobile. The hollow profiles may have an identical cross-sectional configuration. The hollow profiles may be roll-formed or extruded. The modular construction of the crossbeam from separate hollow profiles allows a lightweight construction and allows the load characteristic of the crossbeam to be functionally adapted to different requirements depending on the vehicle or vehicle class.
