Disclosed is an insect repulsion and/or barrier system () and a method for repelling insects () and/or for preventing insects () from passing through a defined opening () or surface (). The barrier system () is equipped with devices () for preventing insects from passing through an opening () or for repelling insects when approaching the opening () and/or the devices (). The devices () have at least two electrodes (), whereby different electrical potentials are applied to or can be applied to the at least two electrodes (). The at least two electrodes () are arranged within or on the edge of or outside the opening such that an electrical field () is formed between the at least two electrodes (). The electrical field () rejects and/or repels insects approaching the electrical field () or prevents insects approaching the electrical field () from passing through the opening ().

Insect barrier arrangement utilizing electrodes

The invention relates to a method for producing CO2 for attracting bloodsucking arthropods (). In this method, at least one liquid or solid organic substance () is reacted in an oxidation process in a targeted manner, one portion completely and another partially, thus forming, in addition to CO2, H2O and heat, at least one further partial oxidation product (P). The invention further relates to a device () for generating CO2, said device () comprising a storage means () for at least one liquid or solid organic substance () and an evaporation module () for the liquid or solid organic substance (). The device () comprises a reactor module () for the controlled oxidation and partial oxidation of the at least one liquid or solid organic substance (); a control unit (); and means () for regulating the oxidation and partial oxidation process. The means () for regulating the oxidation and partial oxidation process can be regulated via the control unit (), hence allowing defined reaction conditions to be set in the reactor module () for the targeted control of the oxidation and partial oxidation process.

Method and device for attracting blood-sucking arthropods

An insect trap has a hollow body generally centered on an upright axis, having a central upwardly open output passage, and formed around the central output passage with an annular intake passage having a dark-colored inner surface. A light-colored foraminous wall upwardly covers the central output passage and has a surface area substantially greater than that of the intake passage. A blower in the body expels air from the body through the central output passage and through the foraminous wall at a predetermined low speed and draws air into the annular intake passage at a high speed substantially higher than the predetermined low speed. Insects attracted by the weak stream or by a contrast between the dark-colored inner surface and the light-colored foraminous wall are trapped in the annular intake passage.
