A method for improving prediction results of advanced driver assistance systems of a vehicle includes obtaining map data including information about a road geometry in a proximity of the vehicle. A sensor means is assigned, sensing a surrounding of the vehicle. A virtual sensing means output is generated, corresponding to an output of the sensing means if the sensing means. The generation is based on a mathematical model of the sensing means. The surrounding of the vehicle is sensed, and a sensing means output is generated. The sensing means output is compared to the virtual sensing means output. Parameters of the mathematical model are modified, and the virtual sensing means output are generated and compared to the sensing means output. Map data is combined with information derived from the sensing means output to generate combined information, which is output for further processing.

Method and system in a vehicle for improving prediction results of an advantageous driver assistant system

The invention regards a method and system for recording observation data without violating privacy. Environment is sensed and observation data including information on the sensed environment is generated. The observation data is processed for determining presence of one or more persons in the sensed environment. Those person(s) amongst the present person(s) that did not agree to store their private data are identified and privacy compliant observation data is generated by obfuscating the private data of these persons. The privacy compliant observation data is store for later use.

Method and system for privacy compliant data recording

The invention regards a method for assisting a driver of a vehicle by computationally predicting a future movement behavior of a target vehicle. The method comprises steps of acquiring data describing a traffic environment of a host vehicle, computing a plurality of future movement behavior alternatives for a target vehicle, by predicting movement behavior of the target vehicle based on the data describing the traffic environment. The prediction step calculates a probability that the target object will execute a movement behavior and information relating to future behavior of the target vehicle is output. The method estimates a global scene context and adapts the predicted behavior based on the estimated global scene context. The adaptation of the behavior prediction is performed by at least one of adapting indicator values in situation models employed by a context-based prediction, by adapting a result of the context-based prediction and adapting the overall prediction result.

Iterative (nondeterministic) optimization of aerodynamic and hydrodynamic surface structures can be accomplished with a computer software program and a system using a combination of a variable encoding length optimization algorithm based on an evolution strategy and an experimental hardware set-up that allows to automatically change the surface properties of the applied material, starting with the overall shape and proceeding via more detailed modifications in local surface areas. The optimization of surface structures may be done with a computing device for calculating optimized parameters of at least one (virtual) surface structure, an experimental hardware set-up for measuring dynamic properties of a specific surface structure, and an interface for feeding calculated parameters from the computing device to the experimental set-up and for feeding measured results back to the computing device as quality values for the next cycle of the optimizing step.

Autonomous experimental design optimization

One embodiment of the present invention provides a method for gathering information from an environment. In a first step, visual information is gathered from the environment. In a second step, information actively transmitted by objects in the environment is received. According to one embodiment, the information actively transmitted by objects in the environment is received wirelessly. In a third step, the visual information is combined with the received information in order to recognize objects.
