The invention relates to a screwdriver or screwdriver attachment (S) comprising one input and one output end ( and ) and a shank ( ) located in between the two. The output end has at least three, preferably four, ribs ( ) which radiate outwards from a central section ( ) located around the axis of rotation (x&mdash;x). The ribs ( ) on each end side have a face, which is placed at an angle to the axis of rotation, and flanks on the front and back side ( ) which run substantially parallel to each other in the area next to the frontal face ( ). In this area the flank ( ) on the front side is located on a diametrical surface (diameter D&mdash;D) in relation to the axis of rotation (x&mdash;x), whereby the flanks ( ) of adjoining ribs ( ) form a groove ( ) which runs lengthways and whose root ( ) ends in the outer surface of a section of the shank. The invention provides a solution that is more balanced in terms of load and easier to use, by having flanks ( ) that are curved in such a way that they point away from each other in the direction of the axis, starting from the face area of each rib ( ).

Screwdriver or screwdriver attachment

A screwing tool, particularly a screwdriver (1) or screwdriver bit, for polygonal socket screws (8), having flank sections (12) which are convex in circumferential direction; in order to optimize the transmission of force it is proposed that the flank sections (12, 12') be interrupted in the central region of each flank (11) by a non-convexly extending intermediate section (13/13').

A box (1) for receiving screwdriver bits (27) and the corresponding chuck (14, 39) in a compartment (13) which extends in the longitudinal direction of the box (1) and transverse to which there are arranged in a row a plurality of screwdriver bits (27). In order to obtain a solution which is particularly favorable in use, the compartment (13) extends along the closure side of the bottom part (2) of a box half which is closed by a hinged lid and the bits (27) are seated in a ledge (24) extending in the hinge shaft (28) on the hinge side of the hinged lid in such a manner that the tips of the screwdriver bits (27) which tilt upon the opening of the hinged lid (3) out of the position parallel to the bottom into an upright position, are secured in the position parallel to the bottom by the inner compartment wall (12) against falling out of their insertion openings (26).
