An optical system for a virtual retinal scan display. The optical system includes an image source which supplies image data, an image processing device for the image data, a projector unit having a light source modulatable in time for generating a light beam, and an actuable refraction device for the light beam for the scanning projection of the image content, a deflection unit onto which the image content is able to be projected and which is designed to guide the projected image content onto an eye of a user, and an adaptive optical element for modifying a beam divergence, which is situated in the optical path between the light source and the deflection unit. The adaptive optical element is able to be actuated so that the beam divergence of the light beam is variable as a function of the angle of incidence of the light beam on the deflection unit.

A laser sensor includes a laser source configured to emit a laser beam, and optics configured to project the laser beam as a one- or two-dimensional patterned laser beam onto an object to be examined, such that a distance of the patterned laser beam from the laser source varies along the patterned laser beam projected on the object. The laser sensor further includes a detector configured to determine a self-mixing interference signal generated by laser light of the patterned laser beam reflected from the object back into the laser source, and circuitry configured to analyze a spectrum of the self-mixing interference signal and extract from the spectrum of the self-mixing interference signal multiple frequencies that are indicative of at least one of the following: multiple distances along the patterned laser beam from the laser source, or multiple velocities along the patterned laser beam with respect to the laser source.

A method for activating a drive unit of a deflection unit of a two-dimensional microscanner device. First and second control signals for activating the drive unit of the deflection unit are initially generated using a processing unit. The first and second control signals are subsequently transferred to the drive unit. A sinusoidal first movement of the deflection unit about a first axis and a sinusoidal second movement of the deflection unit about a second axis are carried out at a first point in time based on the transferred control signals. The first control signals are then adapted so that a periodic third movement is superimposed on the first movement at a second point in time following the first point in time. Alternatively, the second control signals are adapted so that a periodic fourth movement is superimposed on the second movement at the second point in time following the first.

A method for operating a MEMS system having a projection unit for providing an image via a light beam, and a deflecting unit for the two-dimensional deflection of the at least one light beam. The method includes: driving the deflecting unit via a reference signal, so that the deflecting unit periodically deflects a light beam at least two-dimensionally, measuring a controlled variable of the deflecting unit that corresponds to an actual position of the deflected light beam, ascertaining a current deviation of the controlled variable from a target variable that corresponds to a target position of the light beam, calculating a compensating variable based on the ascertained deviation, controlling the deflecting unit and/or controlling the projection unit based on the calculated compensating variable for reducing the deviation of the light beam from the target position.
