A handling robot includes an articulated arm movable in three directions, which carries a gripper at its free end for gripping and holding pneumatic tires. The pneumatic tire is held on its running surface by the gripper, taken from a provision position and moved to an optional wetting station for wetting the pneumatic tire with lubricant. The wetted pneumatic tire is then moved to an assembly station with a clamping device for releasably holding a wheel rim, which comprises a handling device with an assembly head equipped with assembly tools that can be guided along between the tire bead and the wheel rim flange. Here, the pneumatic tire is mounted on the wheel rim by a coordinated movement of the handling robot and the assembly head.

Method for assembling a pneumatic tyre on a wheel rim

In a device () for clamping a rim () of a vehicle wheel, at least four clamping elements () are provided which can be moved with respect to the rim () and comprise clamping arms () and support elements () having support surfaces (). A rim flange of the rim () can be placed on the support surfaces. The clamping arms () are rotatably mounted, about their longitudinal axis, in the clamping elements (), and have clamping fingers () at the end that protrude beyond the support surfaces (), which fingers have clamping surfaces which can be brought into clamping contact with the placeable rim flange.

Testing device for a tire inflation device

In a tire inflating device having a machine frame (), a tire filling bell () arranged on the machine frame () and a supporting and sealing device () for sealing a filling chamber. The tire filling bell () is comprised of a filling plate () and a separate filling ring (). A magazine () has a magazine rack () and magazine guides () lying in a plurality of parallel planes, each of said guides being able to hold a filling ring (') mounted so that it can move. The magazine rack () and the filling plate () can be moved with respect to each other into a plurality of transfer positions in the direction of the axis of rotation. Tire inflating device

A device for changing the rotational angle position of a pneumatic tire relative to a rim, on which the pneumatic tire is fitted to the rim, includes a manipulating device with a gripper adapted to be rotated by a positionable rotary drive mechanism and having radially adjustable gripper fingers with oppositely facing lift-off devices. Via the gripper it is possible to load a wheel into a clamping fixture, and following unseating of the tire beads from the clamped rim the pneumatic tire can be rotated relative to the rim through a computed angular difference.

Device and method for changing the rotational angle position of a pneumatic tire on a wheel rim

In a tire inflating station for inflating a tubeless tire arranged on a rim with a pressurized gas, arranged on a stand are a conveyor for receiving and conveying a wheel consisting of a wheel rim and a tire mounted on the wheel rim, and an inflation device above the conveyor and having an inflation opening which can be connected to a gas supply. The lower side of the inflation device has a carrier plate that is mounted to move backwards and forwards along an axis between at least two positions in a straight-line mechanism. There are inflation rings attached in tandem in a gas-tight manner to the lower side of a carrier plate. Inside the inflation rings, the carrier plate has a respective continuous opening. In each of the different working positions of the carrier plate, another of the continuous openings is connected to the inflation opening of the inflation device, which inflation opening is arranged on the upper side of the carrier plate.

Disclosed is a method for correcting an unbalance on a vehicle wheel including a rim and a tire, which includes measuring the unbalance of the vehicle wheel in an unbalance measuring station, rotating the vehicle wheel in the unbalance measuring station into a defined angular position and transmitting the defined angular position and the correction data to a control device for controlling an applicator head of a balancing station, transferring the vehicle wheel from the unbalance measuring station to the balancing station by means of a gripper arranged on a handling device and centrally locating and holding it in the balancing station, loading a corrective element which has one side coated with an adhesive and exhibits the weight amount determined in the unbalance measuring station into the applicator head of the balancing station, and rotating the vehicle wheel and/or the applicator head in dependence upon the control device in such a way that the corrective element in the cavity of the wheel rim reaches the correction plane and the attachment location on the attachment surface, and fastening the corrective element by pressing its adhesive-coated side against the attachment surface of the rim.

Method for mounting a pneumatic tire on a well base rim of a motor vehicle wheel, in which the pneumatic tire is grasped by means of a manipulator, brought up to a rim held in a clamping device and slipped with at least the one tire bead facing the rim over a rim flange by controlled movement of the manipulator.

Method for mounting a pneumatic tire

A tire mounting apparatus includes a mounting head that is rotated by a drive shaft and slidably carries two adjusting plates. A push rod extends coaxially through the drive shaft, and a deflecting rod slopes laterally from the push rod through openings in the plates. The deflecting rod has two sloping actuating surfaces with different slope angles that engage in the openings of the plates to cause different sliding displacement of each plate by an axial actuation of the push rod. A bead deflector and a pressing roller are respectively mounted on the plates so they can be adjusted to different wheel rim diameters. A toggle lever and/or a pivot joint adjust a pivot angle of at least one of the tire mounting tools to remain tangential to the wheel rim circumference while it is slidingly adjusted to a different wheel diameter.

Apparatus for mounting a tire on a vehicle wheel rim

A tire filling apparatus preferably includes a support and seal arrangement on which a wheel-tire combination is supported in a horizontally lying orientation, a tire filling plate, and a plurality of differently-sized tire filling rings. Based on the diameter of the wheel-tire combination to be filled with air, a properly sized one of the filling rings is selected and positioned coaxially along the wheel axis between the tire and the filling plate. The filling plate moves toward the tire, sealingly contacts the filling ring, and presses the filling ring against the upwardly facing tire sidewall, until an open air filling gap is formed between the tire sidewall bead and the wheel rim. Pressurized air is introduced through the filling plate, the filling ring, and the open air filling gap into the tire interior, until the gap is closed by the increasing air pressure in the tire.

Multi-size tire filling apparatus and method

An apparatus for mounting a tire on a wheel rim includes a mounting head with a tire bead deflector and a tire press-in roller, and a drive that moves the mounting head toward, and rotates the bead deflector and the press-in roller around, the wheel rim. To avoid a damage-causing contact between the bead deflector and the wheel rim, an arrangement for monitoring a minimum spacing distance between the wheel rim and the mounting head is arranged preferably on the bead deflector. If an improper working position closer than the minimum spacing distance is detected, the arrangement produces a signal that influences, e.g. stops, the motion of the mounting head. The arrangement preferably includes a contact member of a comparatively soft low-friction material at a working end of the bead deflector. If the contact member contacts the wheel rim, this actuates a piezoelectric element to generate the required electrical signal.
