A system for controlling a process having a first control device for processing first data, and a first communication interface of a first communication unit designed for receiving the first data, and a second control device for processing second data, and a second communication interface of a second communication unit, designed for receiving the second data. The first communication unit comprises a third communication interface and the second communication unit comprises a fourth communication interface. The third communication interface is connected to the second communication interface and the first processor processes or compares the second data received by the third communication interface with the first data received by the first communication interface. The fourth communication interface is connected to the first communication interface, and the second processor processes or compares the second data received by the second communication interface with the first data received by the fourth communication interface.

Process control system

A device for limiting a power loss during the sampling of a digital signal is illustrated. The device comprises a circuit disposed in the signal path of the digital signal, the circuit being configured to reduce a current flow along the signal path in response to a control signal which indicates a sampling pause.

The present invention relates to a security arrangement comprising a data processing unit for serial transmission of data for controlling outputs and for querying inputs of a process and a corresponding method; further comprising at least one parallel-to-serial converter comprising a shift register for converting data to query the inputs; at least one serial-to-parallel converter comprising a shift register for converting data to control the outputs; wherein the data to be transmitted includes diagnostic bits that are output from the serial-to-parallel converter and read back from the parallel-to-serial converter; and the read-back data is checked for errors by the data processing unit to ensure a secure data transmission.

Safety arrangement

A method, apparatus, program and system is provided for storing a desired address in a device of a control system in which at least one device of a first type and one or more devices of a second type are connected to one another via a communication medium for the purpose of interchanging data. An index value and a unique address of a device of the second type are associated to one another and stored in the device of the first type. The association can be automatically retrieved when a device of the second type is replaced with a replacement device, and the new address of the replacement device can be automatically determined based on the association.
