In a venting system, in particular for a fuel tank of a motor vehicle, which has a sorption filter for temporarily storing fuel evaporating from the fuel tank and a fluid-conveying conveying device situated between the sorption filter and an air supply or an intake manifold of an internal combustion engine, according to the present system, the conveying device is a bidirectional conveying device which is switchable in a first conveying direction in the direction of the internal combustion engine for regenerating the sorption filter and in a second conveying direction in the direction of the sorption filter for carrying out a fuel tank leak diagnosis.

A device for selectively regenerating and performing tank leakage diagnosis of a tank ventilation system has a sorption filter and a pump. The sorption filter is configured to temporarily store fuel evaporating from a fuel tank. The pump is arranged at a fresh-air side of the sorption filter and is connected in fluid-conducting fashion to the sorption filter. The pump is configured to generate a fluid flow to regenerate the sorption filter.

Procedure for the functional diagnosis of an activateable fuel tank ventilation valve of a fuel tank system of an internal combustion engine

A procedure to diagnose a fuel tank ventilation system of a motor vehicle and a device to implement the procedure are proposed. The fuel tank ventilation system contains at least one first ventilation pathway discharging into the air intake area of the internal combustion engine downstream behind a supercharger as well as at least one second ventilation pathway discharging into the air intake area upstream in front of the supercharger. Provision is made for a diagnosis with at least two partial diagnoses, whereby the first partial diagnosis pertaining to the first ventilation pathway is implemented, if the intake manifold pressure in the discharge area of the first ventilation pathway is smaller than the fuel tank system pressure; and the second partial diagnosis pertaining to the second ventilation pathway is implemented, if the intake manifold pressure in the discharge area of the first ventilation pathway is greater than the fuel tank system pressure. An error signal is provided, if at least one of the partial diagnoses generates a partial error signal.
