For a device for the amplitude-dependent absorption of shocks, especially of the wheel of a vehicle, with at least one working piston (), which is disposed within an absorbing housing () and connected with a piston rod () and divides the absorbing housing () into two absorbing spaces () and interacts with a hydraulic element, which is disposed in parallel for affecting small amplitudes and has a space () with a dividing element, the space () being tied in with hydraulic tie-ins with the absorbing spaces (), the greatest possible absence of wear and a soft response of the working piston are to be achieved. For this purpose, it is proposed that the dividing element consists of a foamed, elastic material.

Shock absorber with amplitude damping

A dashpot featuring amplitude-dependent shock absorption, especially intended for the wheel of a vehicle and including a hydraulically parallel cylindrical pressure-compensation chamber (). The pressure-compensation chamber is partitioned by an axially displaceable floating piston (). At least one face () of the floating piston is provided with a resilient bumper (). The object is a dashpot with a floating piston that arrives more gently at its limit inside the pressure-compensation chamber (). The bumper is accordingly accommodated in an axial hollow () that extends through the body () of the floating piston.

Dashpot with amplitude-dependent shock absorption

To make a sealing and guiding packet available to shock dampers in order to minimize or even entirely prevent the negative effects of the so-called stick-slip effect and thus permit greater riding comfort, a sealing and guiding packet is proposed which comprises the following features:

Sealing and guiding packet

A seal for hydraulically sealing a piston rod that travels axially into and out of a housing, preferably in a hydraulic dashpot. The seal comprises a preferably resilient-plastic sealing component ( ). The sealing component is provided with one or more sharp ridges ( , & ) that rest against the piston rod, is tensioned across an elastomeric component ( ), and is radially and axially secured along with the latter in a seal holder ( ). The sealing component has an axial cylindrical wall ( ) and a radial annular flange ( ). The wall rests snug against the piston rod. The elastomeric component is annular and is provided with an inner surface ( ) that tapers in toward the center of the housing and that the wall rests against. The outer surface of the elastomeric component is accommodated subject to radial tension in a setback ( ) in the seal holder. The object is a seal that will satisfactorily prevent the escape of fluid at low temperatures, whereby the sealing component will be subjected to minimal force at high temperatures. The radial tension accordingly varies along the axial height ( ) of the elastomeric component.

Seal for hydraulically sealing a piston rod

A piston-rod scraping ring ( ) of elastic material accommodated in an inward opening groove ( ) in a dashpot cap ( ) and especially intended to scrape water and dirt off a piston rod ( ). The object is to allow the ring to be easily inserted into the groove and secured there until the overall dashpot is assembled. The groove is accordingly higher at its outer circumference and its inner circumference ( ) is deformed, compressing the rim ( ) in place.
