A reaction carrier (), a measuring device () and a measuring method for measuring a concentration of gaseous/aerosol components of a gas mixture uses reaction material () which reacts in an optically detectable manner with at least one component to be measured or with a reaction product of the component to be measured. The reaction carrier includes a flow channel () with sections () and extends between connecting elements (). A gas treatment element (), in each of the sections, changes chemical or physical properties of the gas mixture flowing therethrough or reacts, depending on the chemical or physical properties. The sections are separated from each other in a gas-tight manner by a separating element (). A coupling element () opens the separating element and establishes a connection between the sections when the coupling element is activated. The measuring device includes an activation element () to activate the coupling element.

Measuring device, reaction carrier and measuring method

A gas measurement system for measuring the concentration of gaseous and/or vaporous components of a gas mixture by means of the color change of at least one reaction substance on a reaction support unit in which the at least one reaction substance is arranged on the reaction support unit separately within at least two light permeable channels is provided in such a manner that data can be read out reliably at low technical expense. The data reading device can be designed as a digital camera and/or as a reading apparatus for an electronic data storage device.

Gas measurement system

A measuring device () and a measuring method measure a concentration of gaseous and/or aerosol components of a gas mixture. A reaction carrier () has a flow channel () defining a reaction chamber () with an optically detectable reaction material () to react with at least one component or with a reaction product of the component. A measuring device () and a measurement method measure a concentration of gaseous/aerosol components of a gas mixture. A reaction carrier () has a flow channel () defining a reaction chamber () having a optically detectable reaction material (), that reacts with a gas mixture component or with a reaction product. The measuring device () includes a gas-conveying assembly () with a gas-conveying apparatus () conveying the gas mixture and a detection assembly (), which has a lighting apparatus () for lighting the reaction chamber (), an optical sensor () for sensing the optically detectable reaction, and an evaluating unit () evaluating sensor data and determining a concentration of the component of the gas mixture. The detection assembly () senses a speed of a reaction front () propagating in the flow direction in the reaction chamber () and determines a preliminary concentration from the speed of the reaction front ().

A gas measurement system for measuring the concentration of gaseous and/or vaporous components of a gas mixture by means of a color change of at least one reaction substance on a reaction support unit, which is arranged in at least two light permeable channels in such a manner that the color change on the reaction substance can be detected at low expense on a large number of separate positions. The detecting unit which detects the color change can be designed as a digital camera with an electronic image converter or image sensor, and an imaging optics system (e.g., a lens system). Related systems, methods, apparatus, and articles are also described.

An automated analysis method for an impactor used as a measuring transducer for the selective determination of oil mist or aerosols. The process includes the steps of rotating the deflector plate () of the measuring transducer () about the symmetry axis thereof and of determining the quantity of oil deposited by means of an optical analyzing device from the extinction of a light beam reflected from deflector plate () due to the alternation between the background and the pattern produced by the micronozzles ().

Process for the selective determination of oil mist or aerosols

A measuring sensor () for the selective determination of oil mist or aerosols makes possible gas analysis in the ambient air. The measuring sensor () is inserted into an adapter housing (), and a vacuum, by which ambient air is drawn in via the gas inlet duct () of the measuring sensor (), is generated in the adapter housing () by means of a gas delivery pump ().

Device for selectively determining the quantity of oil mist or aerosols

A device and a method are provided for determining chlorine dioxide, especially in the presence of chlorine as a foreign gas. In the device the gas sample is exposed at first to a reagent for removing chlorine and subsequently to an indicator or to an electrochemical cell for the qualitative and/or quantitative determination of chlorine dioxide. The reagent for removing chlorine is or contains cyclohexylsulfamic acid and/or salts thereof. The device, through which flow can take place may be a test tube.

The invention is directed to a method for determining the portion of a gaseous or vaporous component in a gas mixture utilizing a detecting substance which can enter into a chemical reaction with the component to produce a coloration of the detecting substance and utilizing a device for evaluating the coloration. The method includes the steps of: passing the gas mixture at a constant volume flow through a channel containing the detecting substance; detecting a reflectance signal I(t) within a defined spatially fixed length segment of the channel; determining a slope .DELTA.I/.DELTA.t at the start of the chemical reaction during a time interval .DELTA.t in which the detecting substance is present in excess; determining a saturation reflectance signal I.sup.100% toward the end of the chemical reaction which corresponds to an almost complete chemical conversion of the detecting substance within the length segment; and, determining a normalized slope in correspondence to the formal relationship: .DELTA.I/(I.sup.100% *.DELTA.t), which is proportional to the portion of the gaseous or vaporous component.
