The present disclosure relates to a method for determining a size of a buffer of a device-under-test, DUT, which is transmitting data. The method comprises the steps of: transmitting a data stream with a transmitting bit rate by means of the DUT, wherein the data stream is loaded into the DUT buffer during said transmission; receiving the data stream with a receiving bit rate at a receiver device; detecting a difference between the transmitting bit rate and the receiving bit rate over time; monitoring a packet loss at the receiver side; detecting a time at which a packet error rate, PER, at the receiver side increases above a threshold based on the monitored packet loss; and calculating a size of the DUT buffer based on a difference between an amount of data transmitted by the DUT and an amount of data received by the receiver device from the start of the transmission until the detected time of the PER increase.

A message analysis device serves for the analysis of messages transmitted via service access points on layers of an OSI reference model. The message analysis device comprises a storage device, for storing messages, a selection device, for reading a series of sequential messages and a display device, for the display of at least one first region and one second region. In the first region, a series of messages read by the selection device from the memory device can be displayed as a list. The selection device determines a characteristic feature of messages for at least one service access point, transmitted by the service access point, whereby the curve for the characteristic feature may be displayed on the display device in the second region.

A method is disclosed for determining deviations of a modular end-system message, generated in a hierarchically structured end-system of a telecommunications device, from a reference message. A reference message is read, and an end-system message generated in the end-system is read. A message-structure analysis is performed for the reference message and the end-system message. An individual structural unit of the message can be selected, in which the possible modifications and/or functions can be determined, displayed, and selected. Method and device for modifying modular messages

A message analysis device is described including a storage device, display device, and a selection device. The storage device can be used to store messages in a file in chronological order, and the a display device can be used to display at least one first and one second window. One part of the messages, which are chronologically stored in the file, can be displayed in the first window. The selection device can be used to select at least one message to be displayed in the second window, corresponding to a parent and/or child generation of a specific message. Accordingly, information can be evaluated from a message header to determine and represent those parent-generation messages that causally triggered a specific message and/or those child-generation messages that are causally determined by the specific message.
