Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive a demodulation reference signal (DMRS) and perform a filtering procedure on frequency-domain symbols of the DMRS to obtain a frequency-domain noise signal associated with the frequency-domain symbols. The UE may perform a spur detection procedure on the frequency-domain noise signal to detect one or more frequency spurs associated with the frequency-domain symbols. In addition, the UE may estimate a frequency of the frequency spurs. In some implementations, the UE may transmit information indicating spur parameters associated with the frequency spurs (e.g., including the estimated frequency) to a network entity. The UE may receive a control message indicating a rate matching pattern for subsequent communications, the rate matching pattern based on the spur parameters. The UE and the network entity may communicate according to the rate matching pattern.

The apparatus transmits, to a network entity, a SIC capability indication comprising an indication that the UE supports a SIC operation for 2-CW allocation and an order of processing a first codeword and a second codeword. Waveforms for wireless communication are shaped asymmetrically according to a complex-valued weighted overlap/add (WOLA) filter. A wireless communication device generates a waveform corresponding to a carrier. The device determines whether neighboring carriers are being used for wireless communication. If one neighboring carrier is occupied and the other is unoccupied, the wireless communication device applies the asymmetrical filter to the waveform such that out-of-band signals which may interfere with the occupied carrier are suppressed to a greater extent than out-of-band signals potentially present in or around the unoccupied carrier. The wireless communication device then transmits the asymmetrically shaped waveform to maximize interference reduction and signal quality.

In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided. The apparatus may be a UE configured to receive a plurality of beams through a plurality of different receive beam directions, each of the beams including broadcast information on a PBCH. The apparatus may be further configured to determine, for each of a subset of the received beams, a log likelihood ratio (LLR) for coded bits of the broadcast information. The apparatus may be further configured to decode the broadcast information associated with each of the subset of the received beams, and determine a refined receive beam direction based on the determined LLRs and based on whether the broadcast information associated with each of the subset of the received beams fails to decode or is successfully decoded.

An industrial automation system for controlling the operating means of a technical process. The system includes fail-safe modules for interchanging process data with the operating means, i.e., actuating and measurement signals, stations having slots for modules, which slots are inter-connected by a backplane bus, a central processing unit at least for processing process signals from the technical process, and a field bus for transmitting data between the central processing unit and the stations. In accordance with the invention, the address relationship for the addressing of a fail-safe module by the central processing unit over the field bus for data processing purposes is permanently stored in a first memory in the respective module and is additionally permanently backed-up in the associated station. As a result, it is advantageously possible to safely and automatically recover the address relationships of fail-safe modules due to address relationships which have already been recognized as valid, such as during planning, being backed-up in a permanent, power-failure-safe manner at the station level. In addition, it is possible, when a module is exchanged, for a new module to reload the correct address relationships of the old module, which is no longer present, from the back-up means in the station.

An apparatus for and a method of operating an automation system. A processing unit subjects useful information which is received via a telegram to a user designated logic operation and drives an output channel in accordance with a result of the logic operation. The processing unit monitors a time sequence of process data transmitted with the useful information and drives the output channel only when the time sequence lies within predetermined tolerances. A monitoring unit monitors the processing unit and shifts the output channel to a safe condition as soon as a malfunction of the processing unit is detected. The output channel may include a readback channel which reads back a signal applied to the output channel whereby the monitoring unit compares the applied signal and the readback signal and shifts the output channel to a safe state if the applied signal and the readback signal differ.
