An internal mixer includes a mixing chamber enclosed by a housing, a feeding neck in which a ram is guided, a closable discharge door, and an intermeshing rotor system, composed of a pair of rotors that can each be rotated about a rotor longitudinal axis, each rotor comprising a rotor main body on which at least one respective rotor blade is arranged, and the rotor blades of the two rotors meshing with one another, is to be refined in such a way that an improved, that is, faster, pull-in behavior is achieved, while optimizing the dispersion and distribution of the introduced materials. To this end, it is provided that in the case of at least one of the rotors, the rotor main body, at least in sub-regions, is non-cylindrical and has a non-circular cross-section, in the surface sections in which no rotor blades are arranged on the rotor main body.

Internal mixer

An internal mixer for kneading plastic materials, particularly synthetic materials, caoutchouc or rubber mixtures includes a housing with a mixing chamber, two rotors which are driveable in opposite directions and are arranged in the mixing chamber with parallel axes. The rotors have non-meshing rotor bodies, wherein each rotor body has four helically mixing wings which at one end thereof define a front passage to the corresponding front wall of the housing. Each rotor body has for helically extending mixing wings which are successively oppositely arranged on the circumference, wherein the mixing wings extend at least over half the axial length of the mixing chamber, and wherein the mixing wings define at one end thereof a front passage to the corresponding front wall of the housing.

Internal mixer for kneading plastic materials

The invention relates to a method for adjusting an extrusion die in an extruder by recording at least one master flow curve () in a first extruder to which the extrusion die is optimized, in which curve the volume flow is entered over the pressure, which master flow curve () is obtained in a measuring channel () which branches off in the extruder, the extrusion die or in any interposed adapter part from the flow channel (), and the repeated recording of flow curves () in the same or similar measuring channels () as in the first extruder after the assembly of the extrusion tool in the extruder to be checked and adjusted, and the purposeful change of process parameters for such a time until the flow curves () correspond to the master flow curves () within predetermined tolerance ranges.

Method and an apparatus for adjusting an extrusion die in an extruder

In an internal mixer, the bearing housings of the bearing arrangements for the journals of the rotors are mounted directly on the end walls of the housing. The gaps which are formed between the rotor and the end wall and between the journal and the end wall are connected to the outside by way of outlets. These outlets bridge the bearing which is encapsulated in the bearing housing.
