In a method and a carrier gas nozzle for allowing at least one fluid to flow over a welding area of a workpiece along a welding path during a welding process, the at least one fluid is flowed onto the welding area via at least one inlet and channels having openings. The openings of the channels are divided into at least two sectors, and at least one flow parameter, if need be also a property of the at least one fluid of each sector, is individually controlled, wherein at least one flow parameter of at least one fluid of at least one sector is controlled depending on the geometry of the welding path and/or depending on the geometry of the workpiece.

A welding component cooling system for cooling a welding component, in particular a welding torch, includes at least one container for cooling liquid, a cooling circuit with corresponding cooling lines, at least one pump arranged in the cooling circuit for conveying the cooling liquid through the cooling lines in the cooling circuit, at least one heat exchanger arranged in a cooling line, and a device for deionizing the cooling liquid in the cooling circuit. Also a welding component, in particular a welding torch includes such a welding component cooling system. At least one sensor for measuring the conductance of the cooling liquid is arranged in the cooling circuit and is connected to a control device, wherein the control device can be connected to a welding current source connected to the welding component.

A device and a method for contacting a welding wire in a welding torch includes at least two contact shells having a contact area for contacting the welding wire. In order to make the contact of the welding wire as constant and permanent as possible during the lifetime of a contacting device, the contact shells have a holding section and are arranged inside a sleeve to define a rotational axis, the sleeve being fastened to a nozzle pipe having an integrated pressure mechanism. The pressure mechanism is adapted to exert pressure on the contact shells. The sleeve includes a holding device for exerting a counter-force onto the contact shells. The welding wire is contacted in the contact area of the contact shells with a contact force.

For rapid, exact and practical determination and correspondingly effective evaluation of the protective effect of the protective gas, at least one sensor () is arranged in an external measuring device () for protective-gas analysis, which sensor () is positioned at a distance () from the torch () which substantially equals the distance () between the torch () and a workpiece () in a welding process so that the escape and effect of the protective gas () of an actual welding process can be simulated, and that at least one sensor () is connected to an evaluation unit () and via the latter to a welding device ().
