An apparatus for wireless communication is provided. The apparatus includes a processing circuit configured to receive data to be wirelessly transmitted within a predefined frequency range. Further, the processing circuit is configured to generate a first radio frequency transmit signal of a first frequency range based on the data, and to generate a second radio frequency transmit signal of a second frequency range based on the data. The first frequency range and the second frequency range are subranges of the predefined frequency range. The apparatus further includes a front-end circuit configured to supply the first radio frequency transmit signal to a first antenna, and to supply the second radio frequency transmit signal to a second antenna.

Apparatuses and methods for wireless communication

This disclosure is directed to compensating for gain drift due to switching the output power of a transmitter of an electronic device. In some cellular network applications, the transmit power level of a transmitter may be frequently adjusted from a low power level to a high power level. If the power level is not switched to the desired power level within a given interval, the transmission signal may be distorted. To enable the transmitter to reach a desired output power within the interval, the voltage supply of a power amplifier may be raised during a low power symbol, which may produce an undesirable gain increase. To mitigate or eliminate the low power symbol gain increase, a gain compensation signal may be introduced into the transmitter. The compensation signal may be adjusted and refined by implementing a power control loop, the power control loop may include a power controller.

System and method for performing fast transmission output power transition

A predistortion circuit for a wireless transmitter includes a signal input configured to receive a baseband signal. Further, the predistortion circuit includes a predistorter configured to generate a predistorted baseband signal using the baseband signal and a select of one of a first predistorter configuration and a second predistorter configuration.

An electronic device may include radar circuitry. Control circuitry may calibrate the radar circuitry using a multi-tone calibration signal. A first mixer may upconvert the calibration signal for transmission by a transmit antenna. A de-chirp mixer may mix the calibration signal output by the first mixer with the calibration signal as received by a receive antenna or loopback path to produce a baseband multi-tone calibration signal. The baseband signal will be offset from DC by the frequency gap. This may prevent DC noise or other system effects from interfering with the calibration signal. The control circuitry may sweep the first mixer over the radio frequencies of operation of the radar circuitry to estimate the power droop and phase shift of the radar circuitry based on baseband calibration signal. Distortion circuitry may distort transmit signals used in spatial ranging operations to invert the estimated power droop and phase shift.

Systems, circuitries, and methods for predistorting a digital signal in a transmit chain based on a predistortion function are provided. A method includes shifting a center frequency of an input signal by an offset to generate an adapted signal; predistorting the adapted signal based on a predistortion function to generate a predistorted adapted signal; reverting the shifting of the center frequency of the predistorted adapted signal by the offset to generate a predistorted signal; and causing transmission of the predistorted signal by a transmit chain.

A circuit for generating a radio frequency signal is provided. The circuit includes an amplifier configured to generate a radio frequency signal based on a baseband signal. Further, the circuit includes a power supply configured to generate a variable supply voltage based on a control signal indicating a desired supply voltage, and to supply the variable supply voltage to the amplifier. The circuit further includes an envelope tracking circuit configured to generate the control signal based on a bandwidth of the baseband signal, and to supply the control signal to the power supply.

Systems, methods, and circuitries are provided for generating a power amplifier supply voltage based on a target envelope signal for a radio frequency (RF) transmit signal. An envelope tracking system includes a first selector circuitry and predistortion circuitry. The first selector circuitry is disposed in a selector module and is configured to input a plurality of voltages conducted on a first plurality of power lanes, wherein the first plurality of power lanes is part of a power distribution network; select a voltage from the plurality of voltages based on the target envelope signal; and provide the selected voltage to a supply lane connected to an input of the power amplifier that amplifies the RF transmit signal. The predistortion circuitry is configured to modify the RF transmit signal based on a selected power lane of the first plurality of power lanes that conducts the selected voltage.

An apparatus for a mobile communication device adapted for digital pre-distortion that includes a memory and a processor operatively coupled to the memory of the processor. The processor receives a first input signal and also receives a first output signal from a power amplifier that is based on the first input signal. The processor additionally varies compression applied to a second input signal based on the first output signal of the power amplifier, generates a distortion compensation vector for the second input signal based on the first output signal of the power amplifier, and also varies an input excitation signal supplied to the power amplifier based on the first output signal of the power amplifier.

A device for digital envelope tracking with dynamically changing voltage levels for a radio frequency (RF) power amplifier is disclosed. A power management unit generates a set of supply voltages for a power amplifier based on a control signal. A setpoint generator in the power management integrated circuit gradually increases or decreases a target voltage such that the set of supply voltages output from the voltage converter gradually increase or decrease in response to a gradual transition of the target voltage. A transceiver includes digital models for replicating a behavior of the setpoint generator and a voltage regulator in the voltage converter such that a signal pre-distortion unit may use an instantaneous voltage level for signal predistortion.

Method and apparatus for digital envelope tracking with dynamically changing voltage levels for power amplifier

A data transmission system may comprise a first transmission chain comprising a first transmission power controller, the first transmission power controller being configured to operate in an open loop power control mode or in a closed loop power control mode; a second transmission chain; and a power control mode selector configured to select the first transmission power controller to operate in the open loop power control mode or in the closed loop power control mode based on at least one quantity indicative of interference induced by the second transmission chain in the first transmission power controller when operating in the closed loop power control mode.

Multi-transmission capable data transmission system and method of operating the same

Systems, circuitries, and methods for predistorting a digital signal in a transmit chain based on a predistortion function are provided in which the function is determined based on a first digital signal or a first transmit chain state. A method includes: receiving a second digital signal that is input to the transmit chain, wherein the transmit chain is characterized by a present transmit chain state; performing a first operation on the second digital signal to generate an adapted digital signal, wherein the first operation is based on either a relationship between the first digital signal and the second digital signal, or a relationship between the first transmit chain state and the present transmit chain state; predistorting the adapted digital signal based on the predistortion function; and performing a second operation on the predistorted adapted signal, wherein the second operation corresponds to an inverse of the first operation.
