A lighting component for a transportation device includes a support layer arrangement of which at least some portions are light-permeable and which has a first layer. The first layer has a first index of refraction and a light guiding element made of polyurethane on a first surface of the first layer. The light guiding element has a second index of refraction which is greater than the first index of refraction. The light guiding element has a coupling-in portion for coupling in light from a light source into the light guiding element and is configured to guide the coupled-in light along the first layer. The lighting component also has a coupling-out portion which is configured to couple the light out of the light guiding element at least partially in the direction of the support layer arrangement.

A function module includes at least one lighting unit and/or at least one sensor unit. The function module also includes a covering panel through which light from the at least one lighting unit emerges from the function module and/or by way of which the detection region of a respective sensor unit extends out of the function module. The function module also includes a first frame and a second frame, with the covering panel being provided on the first frame and the second frame being configured for rigid attachment to the motor vehicle.
