The thermal monitoring of a converter for an electric motor of a vehicle should be improved. Therefore, the invention relates to a method in which the temperature of the converter is measured. In addition, the output power of the converter is determined. The temperature of the converter is estimated using a thermal model of the converter having the output power as an input variable. The estimated temperature is compared with the measured temperature, and a corresponding monitoring signal is provided. Thus, a deviation of the measured temperature for the calculated temperature and thus a corresponding error in the cooling system can be detected even in the partial-load range.

Thermal monitoring of a converter

A drive system includes a line assembly configured to connect a power converter to an electric motor which has a brake and an encoder. The line assembly has at least two power lines and only two brake lines exclusively to provide a data transfer between the power converter and the electric motor and to transfer energy to the encoder. The power converter applies a first supply voltage of a first polarity and a second supply voltage of a second polarity opposite to the first polarity to the brake lines for supplying the brake and the encoder. The electric motor supplies the encoder with the respective supply voltage independently of its polarity and the brake with the respective supply voltage depending on its polarity.

There is described a display system which is used, in particular, in an industrial automation device. This display system has a first display panel which can be electrically operated and is transparent at least in parts and/or at times. The display system also has a second display panel, wherein the first display panel is positioned with respect to the second display panel in such a manner that the second display panel can be viewed through the first display panel. The second display panel is, in particular, a nameplate.

There is described a two-channel method for determining at least one output signal from variable input signals sent by a transmitter, using two independent channels and consisting in alternately guiding the input signals to said channels, wherein a multiplexer is used for switching said channels. A microprocessor contained in said channels delivers input test signals transmitted to the channel not currently receiving any variable input signal. Said channel transmits output signals compared with an expected value in order to verify the channel correct operation. Simultaneously, the other channel produces an output signal. Afterwards, the multiplexer switches a control signal.

A rotary motion detector includes an electrically conducting induction element formed essentially as a hollow cylinder and rotatable about a rotation axis. An excitation assembly applies an inhomogeneous magnetic field and induces an eddy current in the induction element, when the induction element rotates about the rotation axis. A sensor assembly detects a measurement signal that depends on the eddy current. The excitation assembly and the sensor assembly are both arranged radially inside the induction element.

For the safe evaluation of sensor signals, singular further processing is permitted by producing a redundancy signal in accordance with a prescribed algorithm when the sensor signals are actually generated. The redundant single-channel nature is made possible by virtue of safety-conforming data processing and data transmission being carried out on a single channel by virtue of a downstream processing device deriving dual-channel signals therefrom, by reversing the algorithm, and testing them for plausibility by reciprocal result comparison.
