A device for adjusting the effective length of a connecting rod for an internal combustion engine, includes at least one connecting rod which has a variable length and which can be locked in at least two length settings, at least one first oil pump for supplying oil to the at least one connecting rod with a variable length, and a control unit which provides for a switchover between the length settings of the connecting rod in the event of a change in the oil supply pressure for the connecting rod. The aim of the invention is to shorten the switching times during a switchover between the length settings of the connecting rod. A method for providing such a device for adjusting the effective length of a connecting rod is also provided.

The present invention relates to a length-adjustable connecting rod, to a device for setting a compression ratio and to an internal combustion engine. A length-adjustable connecting rod with a small connecting-rod eye and a large connecting-rod eye preferably has a switching device. The switching device is preferably designed to control the length of the connecting rod, in particular hydraulically. In addition, the connecting rod preferably has an adjustment device which is actuable, in particular mechanically, from outside the connecting rod, has a rotatably mounted adjustment unit and is designed to mechanically switch, in particular to actuate, the switching device by rotation of the adjustment unit.

Length-adjustable connecting rod, device for setting a compression ratio and internal combustion engine

The invention relates to a reciprocating-piston engine, in particular an internal combustion engine having a variable compression ratio with a length adjusting device which is arranged in a connecting rod and which can be activated by a switching unit arranged in the connecting rod, wherein an actuating mechanism is operatively connected to the switching unit in the region of a connecting rod bearing in order to introduce a switching pulse into the connecting rod. The actuating mechanism has a deflection element with at least one first force-application region and at least one second force-application region, and the first force-application region and the second force-application region can be selectively contacted with at least one actuating device.

Reciprocating-piston machine

A reciprocating-piston machine, in particular an internal combustion engine with a variable compression ratio, having a length adjustment device arranged in a connecting rod and can be activated by way of a switching unit arranged in the connecting rod, wherein an actuating mechanism is operatively connected to the switching unit in the region of a connecting rod bearing in order to introduce a switching pulse into the connecting rod. The actuating mechanism has a transmission means arranged in the region of the connecting rod bearing, and the switching unit has at least one switching valve which is arranged in the connecting rod body of the connecting rod and the valve body, which can be displaced substantially in the direction of the rotational axis of the connecting rod bearing, and can be deflected out of a dosed position into an open position by way of the transmission means.

In one aspect, the machine includes a piston chamber that is defined in a housing by a first sidewall, a second sidewall and a peripheral wall interconnecting these sidewalls and a rotary piston that is rotatably arranged in the piston chamber and has a first face and a second face. The first face of the rotary piston faces an interior of the first sidewall of the piston chamber and the second face of the rotary piston faces an interior of the second sidewall of the piston chamber. at least one ventilation bore is provided in the first and/or the second sidewall of the piston chamber and connected to at least one ventilation channel, wherein the at least one ventilation bore is arranged at a location that radially lies within at least one first lateral seal.

A piston assembly is disclosed. In one aspect, the piston assembly includes a rotary piston, wherein the rotary piston comprises a first axis of rotation, a central bore having bore axis and at least two curved first constraint surfaces, and wherein the bore axis substantially corresponds to the first axis of rotation. The piston assembly also includes a substantially hollow-cylindrical bearing ring configured to be at least partially inserted in the central bore. The piston assembly further includes at least one fuse body configured to connect the rotary piston and the bearing ring, and to transmit, at least temporarily, a force in the two opposite axial directions relating to the first axis of rotation between the rotary piston and bearing ring.
