A wireless communication device comprises: an antenna; a radio frequency transceiver, for generating signals for transmission through the antenna, the radio frequency transceiver being connectable to the antenna through a switch; a backscattering block, for generating reflected signals for transmission through the antenna in response to received RF signals, the backscattering block being connectable to the antenna through said switch; and a battery. The switch is controlled by an output voltage of the battery, such that the radio frequency transceiver is connected to the antenna through the switch when the output voltage of the battery exceeds a threshold voltage, and the backscattering block is connected to the antenna through the switch when the output voltage of the battery is below the threshold voltage.

An apparatus () and method () disclosed herein embody techniques for adapting read operations with respect to a touch sensor (), to avoid or mitigate touch-detection problems arising from inoperative sensing lines () used to detect touch inputs to a touch surface () of the touch sensor (). A particular advantage is that the avoidance or mitigation techniques address instances of touch sensor malfunctioning that involve isolated instances of sensing-line malfunctions. A further advantage is that the technique allows for continued 'normal' organization, sizing, and placement of user-interface elements displayed on the touch surface ()—e.g., a touchscreen display surface—because the technique provides for touch detection in regions of the touch surface () affected by inoperative sensing lines (), at least in cases where an inoperative sensing line () is bounded by operative sensing lines ().

Method and apparatus for adapting operation of a device to touch-sensor malfunctions

A technique for performing partial reads of a touch sensor () provides several advantages, including scalability to touch sensors with high sensing-line counts, and reductions in operating power. The technique involves identifying a region () of the touch surface () of the touch sensor () to be read and performing a partial read directed to the identified region. Rather than exciting all sensing lines of the touch surface (), the partial read excites one or more of the sensing lines () that are involved with the identified region (), without exciting one or more of the uninvolved sensing lines (). Identifying the region or regions () to be read involves, for example, obtaining touch-control information from a software application () running on a host device () that includes the touch sensor ().

Method and apparatus for performing partial reads of a touch sensor

A method () for selecting from a set of two or more available PUs (e.g. a set of GPUs or a set of TPUs) a PU to serve a UE () (i.e., select the 'best' PU for the UE). The set of available PUs includes at least a first PU and a second PU. The method includes, for each PU included in the set of available PUs, obtaining (s) performance information for the PU. The performance information for the first PU comprises a first time value indicating an estimated amount of time that it will take the first PU to produce a first result. The method also includes obtaining (s) budget information for the UE, wherein the budget information comprises a threshold time value indicating a threshold amount of time. The method further includes selecting (s) a PU from the set of available PUs based on the stored performance information and the budget information for the UE.

Selecting a processing unit to serve a user equipment (UE)

An apparatus () and method () provide power-efficient reading of a touch sensor () by performing transform-based reading of the touch sensor () according to a read configuration () that accounts for touch-surface areas that are indicated as touch targets () for receiving touch input. Advantages such as power savings and more robust touch detection flow from the intelligent selection of which sensing lines () of the touch sensor () to excite and which excitation frequencies () to use for exciting them.

Method and apparatus for interfacing with a touch sensor

Methods () and apparatuses () disclosed herein embody a technique for reading a touch sensor () that provides several advantages, including scalability to touch sensors with high column/row counts and reductions in operating power. 'Reading' in this context refers to the application of one or more excitation frequencies to one or more column lines () and row lines () used for detecting touch inputs to a touch surface () of the touch sensor (), along with the corresponding transformation of the resulting sensing signals into frequency domain values and evaluation of the values () corresponding to the excitation frequencies. The technique in an example implementation involves a hierarchical reading scheme that divides the touch surface (), or any portion thereof, into regions, and performs initial touch detection at the per-region resolution, with subsequent higher-resolution reading of at least the region(s) where touch inputs have been detected.

A technique for reading the columns and rows of a touch sensor provides several advantages, including scalability to touch sensors with high column/row counts. Reading the touch sensor relies on combining the row or column outputs of the touch sensor, during column and/or row excitation of the touch sensor, with the resulting combined signal or signals transformed into the frequency domain and touch detection based on evaluation of the frequency-domain values corresponding to the excitation frequencies.

A method is provided which is performed by an online meeting application executed by an electronic device. The method includes, during an ongoing online meeting while the electronic device is operative in a perester mode, sending a first presentation stream to participant devices. The method receives a presentation quality metric from each of the participant device, where the presentation quality metric indicates how the first presentation stream is played out through the participant device. The method then displays an indication of the presentation quality metric on a display device for review by a user of the electronic device. Related electronic devices are disclosed.

The electronic device senses touch and/or proximity of the object with the electromagnetic sensor. The electronic device generates a haptic feedback with the responsive material structure in response to sensing the touch and/or proximity of the object. The haptic feedback is associated with the function which is triggered by the mechanical switch actuator. The electronic device triggers the function in response to the mechanical switch actuator being actuated.

An image processing system () and method therein for processing streaming media content to reduce disturbing spatial and/or temporal phenomena before being displayed on a device display. The image processing system () receives media stream comprising sequences of video frames into a buffer () and analyzes the video frames during streaming. The analyzing () is performed either on completely decoded or partially decoded video frames within a Group of Picture (GOP) to detect disturbing spatial and/or temporal phenomena. If a disturbing spatial and/or temporal phenomenon is detected, the image processing system () processes () the decoded video frames to reduce the disturbing spatial and/or temporal phenomenon based on user settings of the device and displays the processed video frames on the display ().

An optical sensor module has a controller, a sensor array, present state decision circuitry, and a pattern recognizer. The sensor array comprises a plurality of CMOS sensor pixels, wherein the sensor array is configured to supply one of a plurality of analog sensor signals at each of a sequence of sample times, wherein at each of the sample times, the one of the plurality of analog sensor signals is derived from one or more of the plurality of CMOS sensor pixels. The present state decision circuitry is configured to compare the one of the plurality of the analog sensor signals with a respective controller-selected reference voltage and to generate therefrom a respective single state decision signal. The pattern recognizer is configured to assert a pattern recognition signal whenever a plurality of sequentially generated single state decision signals matches a currently active one of a set of one or more reference sequences of single state decision signals. The controller is configured to assert a host system trigger signal when the pattern recognition signal is asserted a predefined number of times in sequence.

Control of user profiles based on biometrical user authentication in an electronic user device

A device having a first side; a second side; a display configured to display any of a plurality of images on the first side; and a touch-sensitive input device disposed on the second side, wherein the touch-sensitive input device comprises a mapped touch area and an adjustment touch area. The device operation comprises obtaining an initial mapping that relates touch points of the mapped touch area to corresponding display points of a mapped area of the display, wherein the mapped area of the display is smaller than a total area of the display and has an initial position with respect to the display. First touch input data is received from the adjustment touch area, and a current position of the mapped area of the display is produced by adjusting the initial position of the mapped area of the display based on the first touch input data. A current mapping is produced by adjusting the initial mapping based on the current position of the mapped area. Second touch input data is received from the mapped touch area. The second touch input data is translated into a derived display position according to the current mapping. An action that is associated with the derived display position is then performed.
