An opto-electrical transceiver module and an active optical cable comprising such a module are disclosed. The module includes a first printed circuit board and a second printed circuit board. The first printed circuit board carries 1) a light sources with driver circuitry that converts incoming electrical signals to optical signals, 2) optical receiver components with amplifier circuitry that converts optical signals to electrical signals, 3) a single optical coupling unit configured to optically coupling waveguides of an optical cable to the light sources as well as to the optical receiver components, and (4) one or more electrical contacts configured to connect to a host device. The second printed circuit board includes electrical contacts connected to the driver circuitry or to the amplifier circuitry on the first printed circuit board.

An optical cable assembly is provided, an optical cable provided with one or more optical fibers, a strain-relieve device mounted on the optical cable and configured to provide a strain relieve when the optical cable is fed into an optical module through an opening in a housing of the optical module, wherein the strain-relieve device is provided with an adjustment mechanism configured to adjust a distance between an end portion of the one or more optical fibers and the strain-relieve device. The invention relates to an optical coupling unit for an arrangement for sending optical signals, including a base unit, a light path formed between a light input and a light output of the base unit and configured to transmit light received via the light input to the light output, an outer light path section included in the light path, which section extends outside the base unit and into which the light transmitted along the light path emerges from the base unit via a light exit and from which the light after passing through the outer light path section enters again into the base unit via a light entry, and a light decoupling element, which is formed in the light path by means of at least one beamsplitting surface coating and configured to decouple a portion of the light transmitted along the light path. Furthermore the invention relates to an arrangement for sending optical signals and to an optical transceiver.
