A braking system for vehicles includes wheel brakes, a pressure-providing device for actuating the wheel brakes, a master brake cylinder having a primary pressure chamber, a secondary pressure chamber, and a secondary piston. The primary pressure chamber is separated from a first set of the wheel brakes by a first, normally open separating valve, and the secondary pressure chamber is separated from a second set of the wheel brakes by a second, normally open separating valve. A pressure medium reservoir is connected to the secondary pressure chamber in the unactuated state of the secondary piston, the braking system is activated in order to actively build up pressure in the brakes in a by-wire operating mode by the pressure-providing device. In the event of a pressure medium surplus in the wheel brakes, the second separating valve is opened if a release of the brake pedal by the driver is detected.

The rights management (), in the event of an access requirement by a system service (), brings about an adjustment or a change of the mode of operation according to predefined rules in consideration of the instantaneous mode of operation of the general system and reports the current mode of operation to the access management (). Depending on the reported general mode of operation, the access management () allows actuation of the actuator by means of the 'authorized' system service () and processes the actuator access requirements of the system services () according to predefined arbitration rules.

Method for the prevention of erroneous actuator access in a multifunctional general electronic control system

A method of determining an initial pressure prevailing between a master brake cylinder and an inlet valve of a wheel brake cylinder of a motor vehicle determines the initial pressure taking into consideration the variation of a voltage of a PWMoperated motor of a pump, which is used for the return delivery of brake fluid from a low-pressure accumulator into the master brake cylinder. Several characteristic quantities of the voltage variation are measured and converted to respective initial pressure values. The characteristic quantities or the initial pressure values determined therefrom are filtered or conditioned in the event of lack in quality or reliability of the measured characteristic quantities. The respective initial pressure values of similar size are averaged, and the averaged initial pressure values are temporally averaged in order to dampen fluctuations.

A method for increasing the maneuverability and driving stability of an automotive vehicle during cornering, the rotational behavior or the wheel slip of the individual vehicle wheels is monitored, and the distribution of the brake force to the curve-outward wheels compared to the brake force conducted to the curve-inward wheels is varied in dependence on the wheel rotational behavior and on the slip of the wheels. When cornering is detected, a total deceleration of the vehicle that corresponds to the driver's request is determined, and a vehicle deceleration that corresponds to the driver's request is achieved by increasing the brake force at the curve-outward wheels and decreasing or maintaining the brake force at the curve-inward wheels.

Method for increasing the maneuverability or driving stability of a vehicle during cornering

In a method for the adaptive control of the hydraulic pump of a brake system containing low pressure accumulator (NDS ) which take up the pressure fluid discharged in the case of control from the wheel brakes and which are evacuated by the hydraulic pump (HP), first the brake pressure pattern (p ) is determined for each individual wheel with the aid of a wheel pressure model. Then a volume model (VM1,2) is formed on the basis of the wheel pressure model for each individual brake circuit, which volume model indicates, by way of approximation, the filling level of the low pressure accumulators (NDS ). The maximum filling level (MaxV) and the control frequency or the time interval (T) between two successive brake pressure decreasing phases (Ph2) are determined. The delivery capacity of the hydraulic pump (HP) is so dimensioned that the time interval (T) between two successive brake pressure decreasing phases (Ph2) is just adequate for completely evacuating the low pressure accumulators (NDS ).
