The invention relates to a microneedle array having a heat-generating element and its use for the intradermal application of active ingredients, particularly active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) and drugs, wherein this microneedle array is suitable for skin penetration on humans or animals and the microneedles consist of a water-soluble formulation, which contains at least one active ingredient.

A composition for transdermal delivery, particularly iontophoretic transdermal delivery, having at least one cationic active agent or a salt thereof. The composition comprises at least one cationic active agent or a salt thereof, at least one polyamine and/or polyamine salt, water or an aqueous solvent mixture, and optionally one or more additives. Use of the composition as a component of a transdermal patch or of an iontophoretic transdermal patch is also provided, as well as the use of the composition in a method for transdermally or iontophoretically administering cationic active agents. Composition for transdermal delivery of cationic active agents

The invention relates to a composition for transdermal delivery, particularly iontophoretic transdermal delivery, of at least one cationic active agent or a salt thereof. The composition includes at least one cationic active agent or a salt thereof, at least one polyamine or/and polyamine salt, water or an aqueous solvent mixture, and optionally one or more additives. The invention further relates to the use of such composition as a component of a transdermal patch or of an iontophoretic transdermal patch, as well as to the use of such composition in a method for transdermally and/or iontophoretically administering cationic active agents. The invention further includes methods for determining the in vitro skin permeation properties of an active-agent-containing iontophoretic composition.

The invention relates to a transdermal therapeutic system () comprising a pharmaceutical active agent formulation (), an adhesive layer () comprising a contact surface (), and at least one ultrasound transmitter (), the side of the ultrasound transmitter opposing the contact surface being directly or indirectly adjacent to the pharmaceutical active agent formulation. The transdermal therapeutic system is a multi-layered laminate, one of the laminate layers comprising the ultrasound transmitter, another comprising the adhesive layer, and another comprising the pharmaceutical active agent formulation. Furthermore, from a top view, at least in a plane position of the transdermal therapeutic system, all of the laminate layers () are at least approximately mutually congruent and are at least approximately the size of the contact surface. The inventive system provides an ultrasound-reinforced transdermal therapeutic system characterized by an extensive use of active agents, enabling an improved absorption of active agents through the skin.
