A three-point seat belt system for a motor vehicle front seat has a belt tightening drive fastened to the front seat. The belt tightening drive engages an anchoring point of the seat belt fastened to the vehicle seat. The drive element of the belt tightening drive is securely connected to a belt webbing part, which derives from the lap belt and is guided through a belt webbing guide fastened to the seat substructure.

Three-point seat belt system

A device for tightening a three-point seat belt is located in the rear of a vehicle. A linear belt tightener is located in the region of the vehicle door sill aligned essentially parallel to the vehicle door sill. The linear belt tightener acts via a pulling element on the belt webbing of a seat belt. The belt webbing is guided through a belt guide anchored to the vehicle body.

Device for tightening a rear seat belt

A device for activating a seat belt pretensioner comprising a piston that can be driven by a propellant gas in a tubular piston guide. A pressure chamber, in which the propellant gas acts upon the piston and a weak point provided in an opening in a wall of the piston, which ruptures under excess working pressure in the pressure chamber. The weak point is a plastic deformable membrane, which is deformed into a dome shape under excess pressure in the pressure chamber and ruptures in the region of the dome-shaped deformation. The seat belt pretensioner has a belt reel associated with blocking teeth, and a blocking pawl. The time required for the membrane to be deformed and rupture is sufficient for the blocking pawl to securely engage the blocking teeth thereby blocking the belt reel against rotation in a direction of belt extraction.

Seat belt pretensioner

A coupling device transmits a torque from a rotatable driving member to a driven member connected to a belt reel of a seat belt retractor for driving the belt reel in the belt winding direction. The coupling device is held in a disengaged state by a spring force in a rest position. The coupling device is mounted on a driving member and can be engaged in the driven member during rotation of the driving member as a result of its inert mass and of guide means acting between the driving member and the coupling element. In particular, tightening of the seat belt is achieved in this way.
